The Midale Senior Mustangs are showing their appreciation for volunteer fire fighters and first responders at this Saturday’s playoff game against the Carlyle Cougars. Manager and coach for the Midale Mustangs Dustin Graham explains the reasoning for the recognition.

“Midale is really lucky in regard to our first responders. They show up every game, nobody pays them, they're just there. They're ready for both sides. They'll attend to Carlyle, they'll attend to Midale, if anybody gets hurt, they're ready. It's really nice for our rink because there's not a whole lot of rinks in the Big Six that have that.”

The annual appreciation night will offer free admission to all first responders and volunteer firefighters from any department.

Saturday's game is expected to be a toss-up, but they’re coming in confident after a win against Oxbow.

“I think our series with [Carlyle] and the series between Carnduff and Oxbow are going to be two good series. If you're looking to go watch playoff hockey, I think those would be the two to watch this this upcoming playoff season for sure. As far as us and Carlyle, yeah, it could go either way. I think it's a total toss up. I'm hoping it goes our way, but you never know, really.”

The puck drops at 8 p.m. at the Harry O Memorial Arena in Midale.
