Put on your mitts, touques and walking boots and get ready to raise funds for The Center with the upcoming Coldest Night Of The Year event on February 22nd.
Executive Director with The Center Nathan Wiebe details the importance of the annual fundraiser.
"It has alot of meaning to it because we deal with alot of people that have some mental health needs. We deal with with people that have some housing needs and just alot of people that are hurting and so put all that together and it made alot of sense for us as an organization to put this organization together with the mind set we want to better serve the community."
Participants can expect a fun day of walking for a cause, fun activities for kids, fire pits, food and more.
Wiebe adds that mental health supports and free counselling is key to what they do at The Center and this fundraiser encourages the community aspect and allows people to invest in The Center.
Another key aspect is that all the funds raised stay local as Wiebe details.
"We're taking the funds that are donated, were taking the accumulated funds and were putting them in to our mental health supports building right directly, right local putting direct into counselling and making sure this is something that we are making an impact in our community, in the Swift Current community and the surrounding community through this event."
In addition, Wiebe says there are many who have invested in the event from the business community and personally and they can't do this without the community and sponsors.
