Sockey Day in Red Deer in partnership with United Way Central Alberta returns this Monday, Feb. 17 at the Peavey Mart Centrium when the Red Deer Rebels take on the Edmonton Oil Kings.
This fun family event brings the community together to collect warm socks for individuals and families in need across Central Alberta.
How it Works:
- Bring new socks to the game or pick up a free pair provided at the door by our community partners.
- Hold onto your socks until the second intermission. Once the announcer gives the signal, throw your socks on the ice.
- Tossed socks are picked up by United Way volunteers. The goal this year is to collect 5,500 pairs of socks.
- Socks are distributed to individuals and families in need across Central Alberta through partner agencies.
Game time is at 2 p.m. with doors opening at 1 p.m. Click here for tickets.
After the game, stick around for the Paint the Ice postgame party.
Paint and brushes are supplied. No skates permitted.
