The Vanberg Cup Finals resume this weekend with Innisfail hosting Game 2 on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

Game 3 of the North Central Senior AA Hockey League Championship goes Sunday back in Lacombe at 2:30 p.m.

The Eagles lead the best-of-seven series 1-0 after a thrilling 5-3 win last weekend in Lacombe.

Generals' player/manager Jared Williams commented on the Game 1 loss.

"Good hockey game all around," he said. "Innisfail's a good team, we knew they would be. They play like a team and a unit. Sometimes you run into other teams in our league that play a little differently, play a little more run and gun."

Williams says the key to winning the series is to take it one game at a time.

"Obviously it would be nice to get the next two but really we're just focused on Saturday."

He's excited for the Sunday matinee at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex in Lacombe as a big crowd is expected.

"A lot of the guys on the team have kids, so we'll see a lot of younger fans there. Have our own kids there."

Lacombe is looking to capture their third straight Vanberg Cup.
