Generals and Eagles clash in Game 4 of Vanberg Cup Final Friday night; Game 5 Saturday
The Vanberg Cup Finals resume Friday night as the Innisfail Eagles welcome the Lacombe Generals for Game 4 of the North Central Senior AA Hockey League Championship.
The Eagles lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.
Innisfail jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the series, but Lacombe was able to fight back with a 4-3 win Sunday at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex.

Game 3 of the North Central Senior AA Hockey League Championship goes Sunday back in Lacombe at 2:30 p.m.
The Eagles lead the best-of-seven series 1-0 after a thrilling 5-3 win last weekend in Lacombe.
Generals' player/manager Jared Williams commented on the Game 1 loss.
You can help fill the food bank's shelves at Sylvan Lake Library
The Sylvan Lake Municipal Library is seeking donations for its Little Free Pantry food bank.
"We definitely see a big need in the community for it. We do our best to keep it stocked," said library programmer Corrie Brown. "It is a no-questions-asked resource. People can come in and take what they need, when they need it."
Brown says they are grateful for any donations that they receive.
Final shot punches ticket to Scotties for Team Skrlik
Team Skrlik will represent Alberta next month at the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts after a thrilling 6-5 win over Team Kaufman in the finals of the 2025 Alberta Women's Curling Championship Sunday in Rimbey.
Skrlik had a 5-4 lead heading into the 8th end when Kaufman was able to steal one to tie things up at 5. The teams blanked the 9th leading to Skrlik's game-winning shot in the 10th.

Long-time Sylvan Lake football coach stepping down after near-perfect season
Sylvan Lake Bears Pee Wee head coach Garnet Rambaut is stepping down after a near-perfect season.
Rambaut has coached minor football for 23 years, the last 16 of those as head coach with the Bears.
He talked about the decision to step aside as the head coach.
"It's time to bring newer people in, it allows me to move on," he said. "I'm not leaving coaching, but I am leaving the head coaching to the younger guys. It's time."
