The Vanberg Cup Finals resume Friday night as the Innisfail Eagles welcome the Lacombe Generals for Game 4 of the North Central Senior AA Hockey League Championship.
The Eagles lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.
Innisfail jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the series, but Lacombe was able to fight back with a 4-3 win Sunday at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex.
Generals player/manager Jared Williams was asked what it will take to even up the series.
"Sixty minutes and more effort like we had on Sunday," he said. "In the first two games, we didn't come with the fire and the passion that it takes to win in the finals and on Sunday we had that."
Innisfail has outscored Lacombe 14-10 so far in the series. Lacombe defenceman Craig Gans leads all scoring in the playoffs with 17 total points. Innisfail forward Chase Thudium is the top playoff goal-scorer with 9 goals in 12 games played.
Puck drop for Game 4 goes at 8 p.m.
Game 5 is back in Lacombe on Saturday night with a 7:45 p.m. start time.
Williams was amazed at the big crowd they had last Sunday for Game 3, hoping they can replicate that for Game 5.
"It was awesome! Being a Sunday 2;30 p.m. game, very cool to see some younger crowd out but also more of the same people that we see at the late games too. The amount of support we had at that game, we had over 800 people in the rink, sneaking up on 900, that's incredible. It's electric."
