The Swift Current Comprehensive High School was bustling this past weekend as southwest athletes, families, spectators, and coaches attended the Comp's Invitational Senior Badminton Tournament.
The annual home tournament took place on Saturday with athletes from more than 10 communities across Saskatchewan, including Maple Creek, Gull Lake, Ponteix, and more.
The day-long tournament kicked off with a round robin before some well-matched playoffs where local athletes won medals in bronze, silver, and gold across the five different categories.
Reece Lantican and Jodi Switzer secured gold in girls doubles after facing off against fellow Swift Current athletes Makayla Gonzales and Amalia Letkeman, who came up with silver.
Michael Liu captured silver in boys doubles, while Tinara Bowditch ended with bronze in girls singles, and Owen Regier and Isaac Ferguson finished with third place in boys doubles.
Also from the Comp, Saryn Allan and Tate Unger defeated Maple Creek to win gold in mixed doubles, while Lauren Hanson and Jacob Derksen secured bronze in mixed doubles.
Athletes from Maple Creek took home gold in both boys and girls singles, while gold in boys doubles went to a duo from Leader.
