Spring isn't all sunshine and warm temperatures, as Environment Canada is also calling for some rainfall to make its way across the southeast. That's expected to arrive in the middle of the week, though the system is still forming.

Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins doesn't expect to see anything overly significant over this week.

"It's impacting Estevan kind of overnight, Tuesday into Wednesday. It's going to be scattered, it's really going to depend highly on where exactly those showers develop. But we could see some rain showers on Wednesday."

With temperatures rising, that adds more energy into the air around the prairies, which eventually leads to intense thunderstorms and even tornadoes, which peak during the summer heat.

Even though we're seeing higher temperatures this week, those won't translate into a big system according to Desjardins.

"This system in particular doesn't have a whole ton of energy, but it's the type of shower activity where you see that it's not a really big, consistent shield of rain. It's more the summery type of convection that we're seeing."

One aspect of summer weather we'll be lucky to miss out on is thunderstorms, though Desjardins says they do have the capability to produce a few lightning strikes. That's still a bit of weather people may need to keep an eye out for, as weather can shift rapidly through April.

"You absolutely can see thunderstorms develop in April. We've seen them even in March at times. So, definitely getting into that more unstable atmosphere in general. This is going to become more and more frequent as we head further into the spring."
