Rebels add scoring depth with MacSwain signing ahead of Home Opener. Website/Red Deer Rebels

The Red Deer Rebels have added new firepower to their roster, signing forward Landon MacSwain to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

MacSwain, an 18-year-old from Anchorage, Alaska, impressed during the preseason with two power play goals for the Rebels.

Last season, he suited up for Chicago Mission 18U AAA, tallying 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 42 games.

In 2022-23, he captured a USA Tier I 15U National Championship with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.

With MacSwain’s signing, the Rebels roster now sits at 25 players: 14 forwards, 8 defencemen, and 3 goaltenders.

The Rebels open the 2025-26 WHL regular season tonight, (September 19) at 7:00 p.m. against the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Marchant Crane Centrium.

The team will be without four players currently away at NHL camps: Matthew Gard and Luke Vlooswyk (Philadelphia), Jaxon Fuder (Dallas), and goaltender Chase Wutzke (Minnesota).
