RCMP looking for answers following a theft in Notre Dame De Lourdes
Mounties are seeking information about a theft at the end of May.
On May 24th, just before 1:00 p.m., Treherne RCMP received a call that someone had stolen a pick-up truck from an address in the 100 block of Notre Dame Avenue West in Notre Dame De Lourdes.
Officers say the vehicle was only left alone for a short time, and the thief made off with it. The vehicle was recovered on May 29, heavily damaged off Highway 23 and Road 99 West.
A 2024 Kubota: the lead tractor in this RM of Portage movie
The RM of Portage la Prairie approved the purchase of a new 2024 Kubota L3092 tractor for Delta Beach at this past week's council meeting.
Ward 3 Councillor Ryan Kontzie assures the community that this purchase will significantly improve the RM's financial outlook in the long run, as previously, they were leasing a machine.
"We decided it was better to purchase a tractor to use there during the summer and perhaps other locations during the winter months."
Portage RCMP ask for information regarding four stolen bicycles
A thief made off with four bicycles during an incident which has left the Portage la Prairie RCMP looking for a suspect.
Police say that sometime overnight on May 23, a theft occurred at an address on the 100th block of Crescent Road West.
The suspect had entered a garage and made off with four bicycles before disappearing into the night.

Province announces evolutions to Grade 12 English exams
Teachers at the school division level will now formulate Grade 12 final English exams. This was after the Province postponed the Provincial exam last Friday out of what it says was an abundance of caution regarding the identification of certain Manitobans used in the reading material for the exam.
Premier Wab Kinew says going with locally developed exams will ensure the finals are written before June 21.
Arrests made after attempted robbery on Highway 6
A youth from Selkirk has been arrested, along with an accomplice, after a robbery on Highway 6.
On May 22, at around 8:55 a.m., Gypsumville RCMP responded to a report of a male having been shot with an airsoft gun on Highway 6.
As officers were responding to the call, they were alerted that employees from Manitoba Hydro had stopped at the scene and provided first aid to the victim, kept him warm and placed several traffic cones in order to provide emergency services personnel a clearly marked area to safely work in due to the heavy volume of traffic.
Stonewall Mayor issues statement regarding major fire
The Town of Stonewall suffered a tremendous loss to its downtown core on Friday, May 24, as a result of an early morning fire that started in the middle of the 300 block of Main Street.
"Our hearts go out to the business owners, property owners, and tenants affected by this tragedy," said Mayor Sandra Smith.
Portage Community Safety Officers highlighted in RCMP weekly report
The Central Plains RCMP has released the weekly report for the period between May 13 and May 19. The report covers Portage la Prairie, Treherne, Amaranth and the surrounding Rural Municipalities.
On May 15, at around 9:20 a.m., Portage RCMP received a call that the Portage la Prairie Community Safety Officers had arrested a man for shoplifting from a business in the 100 block of Saskatchewan Avenue East.
Woman arrested for theft of septic truck, erratic driving
A septic truck stolen from Ebb and Flow First Nation resulted in a chase on Highway 68.
On May 20, at around 9:20 a.m., Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP received a report that a woman had stolen the septic truck from Ebb and Flow First Nation and was last seen on Provincial Road 278.
Temporary Boil Water Advisory put in place for residents of Austin
A scheduled water main repair will leave some RM of North Norfolk residents in a Boil Water Advisory for some time.
The advisory is specifically for the area between Division Street and Austin Hall, affecting both sides of the lane, due to the loss of water pressure in a portion of the Austin distribution system.
Distribution depressurization can compromise the safety of the water supply, so a boil water advisory is being issued starting at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, to ensure the protection of public health.
Temporary Road Closure to take place near Oakville Thursday cancelled
The Rural Municipality of Portage cautioned motorists of a disturbance later this week. However, this project has been cancelled for Thursday.
The Temporary Road Closure was set to be in effect at PTH 13 CN Railway Tracks West of Oakville from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Thursday, May 23, for track repair.
The Rural Municipality of Portage that this project will be rescheduled for a later date.
