Province announces 46 COVID cases, test rate increases

Another Manitoban has died with COVID-19. The woman in her 60s lived in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region.

As of Friday, 79.5 per cent of Manitobans have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 69.3 per cent have received two doses.

Public health officials have confirmed 46 new cases of the virus in Manitoba. However, one case has been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 45 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 57,593. 

Alberta adds another 233 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, July 29

On the heels of the announcement that Alberta is altering the response plan to COVID-19, another 233 new cases of the virus have been reported. 

There are now 1,520 active cases in the province and the positivity rate is at 2.38 per cent. 

There are 89 people in the hospital with 20 in ICU.

Fortunately, no new deaths have been reported and the total in the province remains at 2,325. 

To date, 75.7 per cent of the Albertans 12 years of age and older have received one shot of vaccine and 64.6 per cent of the province are now fully immunized.

Over the past month, thousands of inquiries have poured into the province's database regarding vaccine card issues.

People with a Manitoba Health card can get a COVID-19 vaccine card, but since the program rolled out many have been frustrated trying to get one. Between input issues and card delays, the province has been backlogged with concerns that they are currently working through.

Vaccine Task Force talks future of rollout, antibody testing and immunization cards

Manitoba continues to inch closer to its next vaccine rate milestone.

Manitoba's Vaccine Implementation Task Force says more than 1.75 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in our province. As of Thursday, 79.3 per cent of Manitobans have received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 68.6 per cent have received two doses.

Winnipeg's test rate hovers above 1%

There are close to four dozen new COVID-19 cases across the province with close to half of those cases coming from the same region.

The Interlake-Eastern health region is continuing to lead in COVID-19 cases across the province this week. Across the province, there are 47 new COVID-19 cases as of Thursday morning.

Stats show alarming rise in online child exploitation in Winnipeg

Child pornography and exploitation cases have grown exponentially since the pandemic started, according to recently released statistics. 

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) released its 2020 statistical report on July 28, 2021. According to it, in 2020 there were 287 incidents regarding child pornography in Winnipeg, which is a growth rate of over 92 per cent from 2019.

NWHU hits another vaccine milestone

The Northwestern Health Unit has hit another vaccine milestone as vaccination rates continue to increase across the NWHU catchment area.

The impressive milestone for the health unit is that 80.5 percent of people aged 18 and over have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 67.1 per cent of those aged 12 and over are fully vaccinated.
