The Humboldt Broncos have a lot of work left in front of them this preseason, even with only two games remaining.  

Last weekend, the Broncos got off to a solid start picking up a pair of convincing wins over the Kindersley Klippers.  

Head Coach Brayden Klimosko noted the Klippers had a younger lineup than the Broncos but was still pleased with his team’s effort in both games. 

A fun and interactive way to stay active.  

Residents over the age of 50 in Humboldt have that opportunity multiple times a week at the Community Gathering Place with the Forever In Motion program. 

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, participants receive a chance to socialize and build up a little sweat in the process. 

High school football continues with its second week of action.

The Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) Mohawks football team got off to a quick start with the 2024 season.  

They jumped out to a 29-0 lead in the first quarter on their way to a 51-12 victory over Kindersley.  

Head Coach Eric Anderson was pleased that most of the players were able to contribute on the field. 

The sizzling Septembers continue to make its presence felt in Saskatchewan, with another record-breaking day in the province on Monday. 

Nipawin was the hot spot in both Saskatchewan and across the country at 35.8 degrees.  

It doesn’t count in the standings, but the Humboldt Broncos started off the preseason on a strong note, picking up a pair of decisive wins over the Kindersley Klippers. 

On Friday night, the Broncos emerged with a 7-3 road victory in Kindersley.  

Gabriel Filion led Green and Gold with two goals and added an assist. Karson Kerbes, Aiden Bruce, Kyle Benoche, Ryder Knutson and Josh Sale also scored. 

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-7-1) find themselves on the edge of the playoff picture with their winless skid falling to seven games following a 26-21 defeat to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-6) on Saturday.  

Six of the last seven games for the Roughriders have been decided by five points or less.  

For the first time in the 2024-25 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season, the Humboldt Broncos will meet an opposing team, as they kick off the preseason tonight in Kindersley against the Klippers tonight.  

Last weekend, the Broncos held their training camp at the Elgar Petersen Arena, giving Head Coach Brayden Klimosko a chance to view his new team on the ice. His first impression of the squad was a positive one.  

It will be a fresh crop of local depth for the Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-6-1) when they head to Winnipeg to meet the Blue Bombers (6-6) on Saturday. 

With classes back in session, action on the gridiron is set to begin. 

High school football gets underway today with one matchup in Six-man football as the Wakaw Warriors host the Hague Panthers in their season opener.  

On Friday, it will be a busy day for local teams.  

The Humboldt Collegiate Institute Mohawks begin their new season with a new opponent, the Kindersley Kobras at Glenn Hall Park.  

In Six-Man action, Watrous Wildcats will head south to meet the Assiniboia Rockets. 

The Wynyard Bears visit the Ituna Trojans.
