Broncos face final preseason test this weekend against Melfort Mustangs

The Humboldt Broncos have a lot of work left in front of them this preseason, even with only two games remaining.  

Last weekend, the Broncos got off to a solid start picking up a pair of convincing wins over the Kindersley Klippers.  

Head Coach Brayden Klimosko noted the Klippers had a younger lineup than the Broncos but was still pleased with his team’s effort in both games.

It doesn’t count in the standings, but the Humboldt Broncos started off the preseason on a strong note, picking up a pair of decisive wins over the Kindersley Klippers. 

On Friday night, the Broncos emerged with a 7-3 road victory in Kindersley.  

Gabriel Filion led Green and Gold with two goals and added an assist. Karson Kerbes, Aiden Bruce, Kyle Benoche, Ryder Knutson and Josh Sale also scored.

For the first time in the 2024-25 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season, the Humboldt Broncos will meet an opposing team, as they kick off the preseason tonight in Kindersley against the Klippers tonight.  

Last weekend, the Broncos held their training camp at the Elgar Petersen Arena, giving Head Coach Brayden Klimosko a chance to view his new team on the ice. His first impression of the squad was a positive one.  

High school football set to kickoff

With classes back in session, action on the gridiron is set to begin. 

High school football gets underway today with one matchup in Six-man football as the Wakaw Warriors host the Hague Panthers in their season opener.  

On Friday, it will be a busy day for local teams.  

The Humboldt Collegiate Institute Mohawks begin their new season with a new opponent, the Kindersley Kobras at Glenn Hall Park.  

In Six-Man action, Watrous Wildcats will head south to meet the Assiniboia Rockets. 

The Wynyard Bears visit the Ituna Trojans.
