With children now back to school this fall, there is an increased risk in the transmission of infectious diseases such as colds, COVID-19, measles, and pertussis/whooping cough. Staying safe as fall settles into Saskatchewan is the number one priority on the minds of parents with children back in the classrooms.  

Halfway through harvest: Weekly Crop Report

Harvest has hit the halfway mark here in the southeast region of Saskatchewan. Farmers got back in the field after some stormy weather hindered progress in August. In September, sunny and windy conditions have sped up the drying of crops and with more sun forecasted into the middle of the month farmers can expect little delays weather-wise.  

Weyburn Legion receives grants thanks to the Veteran Service Club Support Program

The Royal Canadian Legion Number 47 in Weyburn is one of the 81 Legion branches throughout Saskatchewan that will be receiving some much-needed upgrades thanks to grants. The Saskatchewan Veteran Service Club Support Program. Provided by the Government of Saskatchewan, up to $30,000 will go toward helping alleviate the costs of repairs and upgrades.  

Weyburn's Southeast College to host Primary Care Paramedic program in 2025

Southeast College will soon accept applications for their Primary Care Paramedic program running in 2025 being held here in Weyburn. Southeast College’s vice president of communications and strategic enrollment Sheena Onrait shared the details surrounding the applications for the program. 

Bringing chicken and smiles to Brody Farr with Grain Rush!

Well, it may have been too wet to be out in the field, but Brody Farr and his crew were still able to enjoy some delicious KFC chicken thanks to our Grain Rush driven by Great Plains Ford

Brody and his crew farm just north of Yellow Grass, SK and despite the rain, have had an awesome harvest as they’re currently on their last field of durum.  

Sharing the road safely with farmers this harvest season

Harvest is in full swing here in southeast Saskatchewan, which means more farming equipment is driving down the road. The sheer size of farming equipment and the slow speed they travel creates a safety hazard on the roads as motorists try to work their way around them. However, as RM of Weyburn reeve Norm McFadden states, both farmers and motorists are quite aware of this hazard.
