Why do wildlife roam into town in winter?

Winter is a tough season for everything, and animals are certainly no exception.

As freezing temperatures, snow, and wind make up the landscape the wildlife call home, recent winters have caused population declines in many animals such as deer, moose, and pronghorn.

Leanne Heisler is a wildlife ecologist with the Government of Saskatchewan. She said while winter can be tough, some animals thrive.

SaskCanola and SaskFlax merge into the brand new SaskOilSeeds

Yesterday, at the Western Canadian Crop Production Show in Saskatoon, SK, a new brand was announced. SaskCanola and SaskFlax announced that they would be amalgamating under one brand called SaskOilSeeds. While this amalgamation isn’t brand new, in fact, they officially merged together on August 1st, 2024, this announcement marks a new chapter in oilseeds for producers in Saskatchewan. Tracy Broughton is the executive director of the new SaskOilSeeds brand, and she talks about why this merger was needed, and how it will help producers of Saskatchewan oilseeds in the future. 

Red Wings well represented at MJHL/SJHL showcase

SJHL have announced their rosters and finalized teams for their MJHL/SJHL Showcase upcoming on January 28-29 in Winnipeg, MB. Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings Head Coach and General Manager, Cody Mapes, was announced as the coach for the U20 Gold team earlier this month alongside Melville Millionaires head coach and general manager, Doug Johnson, as Mapes' assistant.
