After struggling financially, U.S.A Christian university moving to Canada

Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, known as TEDS, is relocating from Illinois to British Columbia in 2026. 

Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C., will absorb TEDS after the prominent Christian university has been struggling financially as well as with attendance. 

As for the U.S. students who are currently enrolled in TEDS, located in Bannockburn, IL, can continue going to classes on campus until the end of the 2025/26 season. 

All-star worship collective Sons of Sunday prepare to release debut album

The Sons of Sunday, a collaboration of some of the best-known Christian artists, is getting set to release their debut album.

The band, made up of six friends, Steve Furtick, Brandon Lake, Chandler Moore, Chris Brown, Leeland Mooring, and Pat Barrett,  have worked together for years.

Youth for Christ Winnipeg offers many programs, including their drop-in centre as a way of connecting with teenagers in the community. 

"I attend the drop-in program at YFC," says Avril. "I've been coming here since 2022, so about three years now. I got connected through one of my good friends. I'd say one of the biggest things I've gained would be my first encounter with Christ."

Being a part of the drop-in at YFC Winnipeg, located at 333 King St., has allowed her to connect and be mentored by staff member Tiara. 

Riley leaves American Idol, but her mission to glorify God is just beginning

A contestant from American Idol who did not make the top 24 is using her newfound platform to spread God's blessings. 

Riley's journey on the show came to an end this week following a duet performance of Brandon Lake's 'Gratitude' alongside her fellow contestant Breanna.

Jelly Roll, artist in residence this season, surprised the girls with a video chat with Brandon Lake, who watched the entire performance. 

"That was the most gorgeous version of "Gratitude" I have ever heard. My goodness. I am honoured," said Lake. 

Manitoba invests $5M to revitalize Downtown YMCA-YWCA

The province is investing millions of dollars in a downtown fitness facility. 

Premier Wab Kinew announced Tuesday that they will spend $5 million to support the Downtown YMCA-YWCA.

"The Downtown Y is an important hub for downtown Winnipeg, serving families for more than 100 years," said Kinew. "Our government is proud to support this campaign to help them offer the recreation opportunities, youth and community programs, and child care that help keep our downtown vibrant for years to come."

Winnipeg Jets prospect Chaz Lucius retires at 21 due to medical condition

Winnipeg Jets prospect and first-round draft choice of the Winnipeg Jets in 2021 is retiring at just 21 years old. 

Chaz Lucius announced on Tuesday, saying he was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a hereditary disorder that affects the connective tissue that stabilizes and supports the joints and organs throughout the body.

Larger RCMP emergency team will help fight crime, Manitoba justice minister says

The Manitoba government says adding officers to a police emergency team will help address crime.

Justice Minister Matt Wiebe says $3.3 million is being directed to double the RCMP emergency response team's current roster of nine full-time positions.

The money is part of a $5.3-million plan announced in last month's budget to boost policing in rural and northern areas.

The province has seen a series of high-profile crimes in recent months, including three break-ins west of Portage la Prairie last weekend that involved armed suspects stealing all-terrain vehicles.

Leaders take their campaigns to Western Canada as federal election nears midpoint

The leaders of the top three federal parties were campaigning Tuesday in Western Canada, where Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre promised to crack down on offshore tax loopholes by appointing a tax task force.

The Conservatives said the task force would be asked to make the rules simpler and more fair and would ensure large companies can't "stash their money in offshore tax havens."
