33-year-old Winnipeg woman killed in domestic assault

A 40-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge after a domestic-related assault turned fatal.

Just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, officers were called to a home in the 1000 block of Selkirk Avenue where they found a 33-year-old woman suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to hospital in critical condition, where she died of her injuries. 

The victim, Stephanie Anderson-Paupanekis was a member of Norway House First Nation and had been living in Winnipeg since 2024.

Thanks to its recent success, a new show that showcases King David's life will get a second season.

Within the first 17 days of its debut, House of David, a Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios project directed by Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn, had reached over 22 million viewers. It is also among the top 10 series debuts in the U.S. to date. 

Season one of House of David shares the story of the rise of David, while Season two follows the aftermath of the battle of David and Goliath and David's rise to the throne.

Brandon Lake fulfills childhood dream with special performance

Brandon Lake had a childhood dream come true over the weekend. 

The Christian singer and songwriter travelled to Savannah, Georgia on Saturday to sing a duet with the Rascal Flatts.

"I got to be a Rascal Flatt for a song," said Lake in a post on Facebook. "Childhood dream come true! Be on the lookout for their next record."

College students choose service over fun for spring break, assist in hurricane recovery efforts

After Hurricane Helene devastated thousands of people in North Carolina, over a hundred young adults have chosen to help clean up during their spring break rather than take a holiday. 

Cru campus ministry has sent out 150 volunteers to areas in North Carolina, including Ashville, a town that was unexpectedly almost washed out after Hurricane Helene six months ago. 

Stranded astronaut held onto faith: 'God was there, even in the darkest moments'

After being stranded for nine months in space, NASA's veteran astronaut Butch Wilmore is sharing how his faith in God kept him going. 

In June 2024, Wilmore and fellow astronaut Suni Williams were launched into space as the first humans to ride a Boeing Starliner spacecraft. The entire trip should have been 7 days but because of aircraft complications, the two were stranded on the International Space Station for nine months. Willaims and Wilmore finally came back to Earth, alongside two other astronauts, landing in the Gulf of Mexico on Mar. 18, 2025.

Woman assaulted by group of teens while walking to work

A 23-year-old woman is recovering after she was assaulted while walking to work. 

The incident happened around midnight Saturday in the 500 block of Portage Avenue.

Winnipeg police say the woman was walking to her night shift when a group of teens began following her. They eventually caught up to her, threw her to the ground, demanded her property and began assaulting her. 

A bystander saw what was happening and shouted at the group. They ran off before the police arrived.
