Morden man arrested in connection to string of southern Manitoba bank heists
RCMP have arrested an individual in connection to a string of recent bank robberies in Southern Manitoba.
The first, and attempted robbery, happened at TD Canada Trust on November 10th. Police say the man did not obtain any money.
Four days later, on November 14th, there was a bank robbery in Lowe Farm, followed by one in Glenboro on December 8th and one in Miami on both December 23rd and January 3rd.

Winkler Police looking for person of interest
According to social media posts by Winkler Police Sunday evening, the individual in the above screen capture is of interest, and may be able to provide police with info about a theft on December 1st at Real Canadian Superstore.

Mom, Rachel Wahl, reflects on Team Wahl's hometown win at U18 provincials in Altona
It's been a memorable first half of the curling season for Dayna Wahl, Piper Stoesz, Anna Ginters and Gillian Hildebrand. The Altona Curling Club foursome won the Canada Games Trials in Winnipeg in late October, and then captured the Provincial U18 Championship on New Year's Eve in their hometown.
The team will now be competing at the Canadian U18 Championship in Timmins, Ontario and the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island in February.
It's a foggy morning as kids head back to school after Christmas break
As thousands of students get ready to head back to class after Christmas break, they, their parents, bus drivers and teachers are being greeted with yet another very foggy morning across the Red River Valley. Environment Canada has issued, for the second consecutive day, a Fog Advisory for those areas including the Morden, Carman, Winkler, Altona, Morris, Emerson, Vita and Steinbach areas.
The beauty of winter on full display
It was a very foggy start to Wednesday across the Red River and Pembina Valleys with a Fog Advisory in place until shortly after noon. Near zero visibility, at times, was reported in some locations, but as day broke and the sun rose, a beautiful scene was left for all of us to enjoy.
Hoar frost adorned almost every surface imaginable, with many tree limbs and branches looking nearly coated with the wintery sight.

The fog will continue to lift, but will likely redevelop Wednesday night.
Winkler Mayor Henry Siemens reflects on 2022
It's been a busy first couple of months for Winkler Mayor Henry Siemens. After October's municipal elections, Siemens said it felt really good to be given a strong mandate by voters. He said that made him feel confident in reaching out to the community, rebuilding relationships, and growing relationships in our region.

One charged after New Year's Eve drug bust in Altona
A 25-year-old Altona man has been charged with numerous drug-related offences following a bust on New Year’s Eve.
With the help of the Regional Support Tactical Unit, the Altona Police Service executed a narcotics warrant at an apartment suite Saturday on 2nd St. Sw in Altona. The tenant, the 25-year-old, was home at the time and was arrested for trafficking of a controlled substance.
During a search of the suite, police say they discovered a substantial quantity of various drugs.
Hunting enforcement continues in Manitoba
Conservation officers are continuing enforcement to protect Manitoba’s natural resources through a variety of enforcement activities across the province with a dedicated effort against illegal night lighting, and commercial and sport fishing patrols.
Highlights from provincial hunting enforcement statistics for July 1 to Dec. 16 include:
