Wet week continues with Monday Rainwatchers
A stretch of much needed moisture continued Monday, with our Rainwatchers letting us know most places around the Pembina and Red River Valley received a few millimeters throughout the course of the day.
Rainwatchers check in after first round of several expected in coming days
Friday kicked off what's expected to be a series of low-pressure systems that will bring much needed moisture over the coming days across Southern Manitoba.
Now that was a very warm, windy and dusty Thursday
Between daytime highs nearly ten degrees above average, very strong southerly winds and dusty conditions produced by the combination of both, it was quite the Thursday across the Pembina and Red River Valleys.
And why was it so windy, yesterday?
Rainwatchers report a wide variety of totals for Tuesday
Parts of Southern Manitoba woke up Wednesday to a few light showers or even flurries.
"Both being the last hurrah of that low pressure system that’s been tracking through the U.S. plains the last couple days, and currently centred over Minnesota," noted CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. "The final area of precipitation with the system has been working its way west to east Wednesday morning through the Red River Valley and Southeastern Manitoba. The rain has wrapped up west of the Red River, and should taper off before noon east of the Red."
First Rainwatchers of the season marks beginning of wet week
PembinaValleyOnline Rainwatchers dusted off their gauges, and had them ready to go to capture the first rainfall of the season on Monday. Although not significant in total, the precipitation was the first time this Spring several millimeters were received generally across the region.
CFAM Radio 950 Morning Show Co-Host awarded U of M Assistant Coach of the Year
Steinbach’s Michelle Sawatzky was awarded the University of Manitoba's Assistant Coach of the Year.
Sawatzky says she was completely shocked when she heard her name announced.
“There are some awards as an athlete that you can anticipate, if you're on a #1 ranked team and you're a good player, you might be in line for something.”
Somewhat dry start to Spring about to change with rain this week
After a somewhat dry start to Spring, that’s about to change this week with a multi-day precipitation event starting Tuesday, and potentially lasting into Friday depending on how things evolve over the coming days. That from CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner, who noted any precipitation we receive will be welcomed by most, with much of Southern Manitoba receiving well below average snowfall this past winter.
Easter weekend could begin with a snowy Good Friday
For the second time this week, at least for parts of the Red River Valley and Southeastern Manitoba, a quick shot of snow appears likely. After some areas saw a few centimeters Tuesday night, which mostly melted by the end of Wednesday, a more widespread snowfall potential is kicking off Easter weekend on Good Friday.
Waking up Wednesday to snowy reminder Winter not done yet, with more possible Good Friday
Parts of the Red River Valley and much of Southeastern Manitoba are waking up to a fresh blanket of snow Wednesday morning, not a lot, but enough to remind us Old Man Winter may not be done yet, even though Spring officially arrived last week.
Wintry start to Spring Break possible
A major winter storm projected to move through the northern U.S. plains could possibly bring impacts Sunday night through Tuesday morning to parts of Southern Manitoba as it tracks through the Dakotas and Minnesota.
