A $10,000 donation recognizing National Nursing week will help jumpstart an important program for nurses at Boundary Trails Health Centre. The grant, from the RBC Foundation will support nursing education at the regional hospital. 

According to Joel Nelson, Director of Health Services at Boundary Trails, they plan to focus the education on obstetrics, palliative care, surgical care, and critical care. 

It's still up in the air when Winkler Minor Ball players will hit the diamonds for the first time this spring. 

Matt Friesen, President of Winkler Minor Ball, says they would normally start the season outside, practicing and doing the finishing touches to get ready for the season, around May 1st. Regular season games normally kick off around May 8th. Friesen says with no rain over the next couple of weeks combined with some warm weather, he's confident they should make that timeline, with the regular season beginning in early May.

A Morden Physiotherapist calls the recently announced Manitoba Post OP Funding and Reimbursement Program very good news.

The RM of Stanley should be okay in terms of overland flooding if a normal amount of rain falls over the municipality in the midst of the ongoing spring melt. A Colorado Low tracking into the region has the potential to drop a significant amount of precipitation over the next few days.
    
In a statement emailed to PembinaValleyOnline News, CAO Dale Toews says, at this point, Stanley drains are clear and should be able to handle normal rainfall.
    
For the most part, Toews says the RM has faired okay so far through the current spring melt.
    

The Pembina Valley Pregnancy Care Centre remains concerned about the future of charitable status for centres like itself, despite no changes coming in the recent 2023 federal budget.
    
During the 2021 federal election, and the months following, the feds considered reviewing the charitable status of all pregnancy centres operating across Canada for allegedly providing “dishonest counselling”.
    

The Winkler Horticultre Society, and city staff that support their work, were recently recognized at a provincial event.

Last year, it was announced the City of Winkler received funding to complete a multi-modal transportation plan, and a study currently underway on public transportation is part of that process.
    
Winkler's Director of Planning and Engineering, Scott Toews says they're reaching out to a number of stakeholder groups, including the public directly to participate in a number of meetings to be held over a period of time.
    

2021 and part of 2022 were quieter years for the Pembina Valley Pregnancy Care Centre. The organization recently held its 2022 annual meeting, and it was a productive time to reflect on the past year and plan for the future.
    
Executive Director Linda Marek says fewer people came in during the pandemic, however, they are now seeing numbers back to where they were prior to 2020.

With snow and ice melting quickly in the Pembina Valley, and rain in this week's forecast, municipal officials are keeping a close eye on the situation.
