The numbers are in and we're set to go to the polls in the 2024 Saskatchewan general election.
There are 61 seats in the Saskatchewan Legislature and 31 are needed for a majority.
The Saskatchewan Party currently has 42 seats, the NDP 14, the Saskatchewan United Party has one with 3 independents and one vacant seat.
Sikh groups call for Indian consulates to be shut down in Vancouver, Toronto
Representatives of a British Columbia Sikh temple whose president was shot dead last year, as well as the Sikh independence group he was involved in, say their communities won't feel safe until India's consulates in Vancouver and Toronto are shut down.
That's after the Canadian government expelled six Indian diplomats, including the high commissioner, and the RCMP announced on Monday it had evidence of their alleged involvement in crimes including homicide and extortion targeting the so-called Khalistan independence movement.
Moose Jaw MLA candidates weigh in on key issues
Moose Jaw’s MLA candidates gathered at a nearly full Golden Nugget Centre last night to answer questions from Moose Javians, discuss the most pressing issues, and outline solutions during the Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce’s All-Candidates Forum.
The candidates covered many topics during the two-hour session, ranging from healthcare, mental health and addictions, the economy and housing to strategies in support of Moose Jaw’s tourism sector and how they would best represent the needs of the community.
City says it is aware of property inhabited by kittens
A few residents have raised concerns over a property on South Hill that is attracting kittens.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic holding open house today
Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Moose Jaw campus is holding an open house today, Oct. 16, giving people an opportunity to learn more about what they have to offer.
High school students are welcome in the campus gym for the open house from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., with an open house for the public running from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
“That doesn’t mean that someone couldn’t come at 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. as well, or that students couldn’t come at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.,” clarified Scott Hellings, student recruitment advisor with the campus.
Crimes against property down 27 per cent
Crime continues to trend downwards in Moose Jaw compared to last year.
Total crimes against the person are down slightly to 1.6 per cent compared to the end of September 2023, with 429 offences recorded so far, compared to 436 by this point in 2023.
Within that category there’s been a 24.6 per cent decrease in assault with a weapon causing bodily harm (46 instances this year), and assaults on police are down 52.9 per cent (8 offences this year).
Minister says Canadian Forces to help stranded Air India passengers in Iqaluit
Canada's emergency preparedness minister says the passengers of an Air India flight that landed in Iqaluit due to a bomb threat remain stuck there, and he has approved a request for the military to help them.
Harjit Sajjan posted on X late Tuesday that the airline "hasn't found a solution" after the plane landed in Nunavut's capital with 211 passengers on board earlier in the day and that they are "stranded."

Structure fire in Drinkwater destroys commercial facility
The Rouleau Fire Department was joined by at least seven other organizations (including several local families) in Drinkwater on Sunday afternoon to put out a structure fire that eventually destroyed a commercial building.
The building is listed online for $4.7 million as a multi-use, 57,000 sq. ft. commercial opportunity on 8.8 acres of land.
The fire was eventually extinguished with participation from the Wilcox Fire Department, Moose Jaw RCMP, SaskEnergy, SaskPower, Kirby Transportation, the Wallers, and Dwayne Burkitt, according to the Rouleau Fire Department.
