U.S. bill would get canola back into biofuel game
Canola oil would be one of the main beneficiaries of proposed changes to the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit making their way through U.S. Congress, says an analyst.
The feedstock is not eligible for the credit under the current rules because of its unfavourable carbon intensity (CI) score.
However, under new rules contained in the budget bill that recently passed through the U.S. House of Representatives, canola’s carbon intensity score drops to 38.5 grams of carbon dioxide per megajoule from 54.9.

Florence (Binner) Forsythe of Points West Living, Moose Jaw passed away peacefully at F. H. Wigmore Hospital in Moose Jaw on Saturday, May 24, 2025. She was surrounded by her remaining children as she concluded a long journey with declining health.
Florence is predeceased by Jack Binner (1982) and George Forsythe (2010). She was also predeceased by her eldest son Dale Binner in 2024.
Ticket issued after vehicle collides with building
No one was injured, but a ticket was issued after a vehicle collided with a building in downtown Moose Jaw on Saturday.
The Moose Jaw Police Service were called to the one-vehicle incident at about 1:30 p.m. on the 700 block of Main Street North. There was approximately $30,000 in damages.
Police say one vehicle was towed, no one was injured, and one ticket was issued. According to police, there were no signs of impairment.
Fatal rollover under investigation by Moose Jaw RCMP
The single-vehicle rollover that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old Calgary woman is under investigation by Moose Jaw RCMP.
At 10:25 a.m. on May 25, Moose Jaw RCMP, alongside local fire and EMS, responded to a report of a rollover at on Highway 1, one kilometre east of Parkbeg, the sole occupant of the vehicle was declared deceased by EMS at the scene.
The family of the woman has since been notified of her passing.
Moose Jaw RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
Weekend motorcycle crash leads to MJFD rope rescue
On Saturday, May 24, the Moose Jaw Fire Department (MJFD) and EMS responded to a call for service to rescue a motorcyclist who went over the guardrail on the north side of the Town 'n' Country Mall parking lot.
The incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. and resulted in non-life-threatening injuries for the motorcyclist who was thrown from their bike, landing on the embankment below.

United Church of Canada is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and on Sunday, June 1, Zion United Church is hosting a centennial cluster service to mark the occasion.

Week three update for 2025 Infrastructure Renewal Program
Phase 10 of the City of Moose Jaw's Infrastructure Renewal Program wrapped up its third week on Friday.

Temporary road closure in place on 9th Ave. NW today
The City of Moose Jaw is advising residents that the section of 9th Avenue NW between Edmonton and Hall Street will be closed for road repairs.
Traffic detours are in place, and the work is expected to be completed by tomorrow (May 27).
Motorists are asked to follow all temporary signage to ensure safety, reminding drivers that it is an offence to enter a work zone or closed roadway, either by driving around barricades/signage or by moving barricades/signage. Those that do so are subject to fines under City of Moose Jaw Traffic Bylaw No. 5556.
