I-29 closes through part of North Dakota as storm moves in
If you were hoping to beat the winter storm and head south of the border for the weekend you may be already too late.
A Colorado low which is expected to impact southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario beginning Thursday afternoon is already making its presence known in North Dakota. Winter storm warnings are in effect for parts of the State, including Fargo are expecting freezing rain, snow, and high winds.

The Kenora Imagination Library presents the 6th annual Pictures with Santa on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Kenora Public Library from 9:00am to 3:30pm.
This is an annual fundraiser to help provide free books to children from 0-5 years in the Kenora area. Cost for photos is $15 for individuals and $25 for a family.
Ornaments made by St. Thomas Aquinas and Beaver Brae will also be on sale for $10.00 each, with all proceeds going to the Kenora Imagination Library.

Dryden’s Agritech North has won $100,000 in Canada’s first-ever Indigenous business pitch competition – and after a bumpy first year for the new company, a number of new expansion plans are in the works.
Agritech North works to grow a variety of lettuce, herbs, teas and fruits using a vertical drip-fed hydroponic farming system, producing hundreds of pounds of product year-round in a warehouse using water, opposed to soil.

Ayla Bashir, a 16-month-old from Ottawa, Ontario, is the first child treated as a fetus for Pompe disease, an inherited and often fatal disorder in which the body fails to make some or all of a crucial protein.
Today, she’s an active, happy girl who has met her developmental milestones, according to her father, Zahid Bashir and mother, Sobia Qureshi.
'War hero of the family': Canadian War Museum acquires three more Victoria Crosses
The story of Pte. James Peter Robertson was well-known in Peter Harris’s family.
During the First World War, the Canadian soldier singlehandedly took out a German machine-gun nest at Passchendaele. He then led his unit to their objective before a shell killed him while he was trying to save a comrade.
Now, Harris is hoping his namesake great-uncle's story will become more widely known by the rest of the country.

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Richard Kundel on October 26, 2022 at the age of 81.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alex, Minnie and brothers Ralph and Ray.
He leaves to mourn, his wife Lynne of 47 years, daughter Donna (Andrew), grandchildren Hayden, Calum and Cailey.
Richard was born and raised in Winnipeg’s north end. He was employed with Green Giant/Pillsbury for 35 years.

Influenza outbreak at Pinecrest, COVID-19 outbreak continues
A second outbreak is being reported at Kenora’s Pinecrest.
Assistant Administrator and Human Resources Manager, Michelle Spencer, says the Northwestern Health Unit has declared an influenza outbreak in Unit #3, with 1 positive resident and 3 residents presenting symptoms.
Visitors are warned that affected residents may only have one designated visitor during their isolation period, which lasts 5 days for influenza – otherwise known as the flu – pending symptom improvement.
Family first: Winnipeg Blue Bombers' success story built on caring culture
It was 2016 and Jermarcus Hardrick was rushing to the airport to catch a flight.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were heading to Vancouver for a CFL playoff game against the B.C. Lions and the offensive lineman, in his first year with the club, feared the wrath of head coach Mike O’Shea if he wasn’t on time.
“My wife was pregnant and we were late. She was driving,” Hardrick recalled after a recent practice. “I didn’t know what to do when I got there and I was so scared and I was going crazy, snapping (at her) the whole time.

The U18 Kenora AAA Thistles are gearing up to host the Winnipeg Bruins tonight. In their last match-up against the Bruins, Kenora fell 6-1. Puck drop tonight is at the Rec Centre at 7:30 p.m.
The St. Thomas Aquinas Saints kick off the NorWOSSA 'A' playoff semi-finals on home court today. Battling it out in Junior and Senior Girls' basketball will be Rainy River and Red Lake. The Saints will take on Pelican Falls for Junior Boys' volleyball. The Senior Boys' will be Atikokan and Red Lake.
