Ste. Anne Aces "ready to keep rolling," looking ahead to busy weekend

Hockey playoff season is alive across the province. The same truth applies to the Ste. Anne Aces. 

The Aces are currently in a best-of-five semifinal series of the South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League (SEMHL) against the Portage Islanders. 

Star forward Caleb Paisley helped the Aces pull out the 6-5 game one win in overtime on Wednesday night to put them 1-0 against the Islanders.  

Nighthawks celebrate with the community at first-ever red carpet gala fundraiser

Stepping on a red carpet and being serenaded by a four-piece string quartet isn’t a daily occurrence for most.  

Those at the Niverville Heritage Centre last night had just that. The Niverville Nighthawks, MJHL’s newest addition, hosted their first gala fundraiser. It was a night of celebration for the community and everyone involved with the organization. 

Ste. Anne cracks top two nationwide in Kraft Hockeyville

The judging period of Kraft Hockeyville is underway, and Ste. Anne has claimed one of the top spots. 

With 2282 submissions, Ste. Anne finished second nationwide in the competition's first phase, Nominate and Rally.  

Sarah Normandeau, the recreational services manager of Ste. Anne says that the journey has been “overwhelming.” 

Three local ringette stars battle for gold at Canada Winter Games in P.E.I.

The 2023 Canada Winter Games are two days away, and three athletes from southeast Manitoba are heading to Prince Edward Island.  

Lauren Bezditny of Mitchell, Kaylee Davies of La Broquerie and Taylor Rempel of Steinbach are a part of Team Manitoba’s ringette team. 

Centre Lauren Bezditny started with the Steinbach Panthers and has been playing the sport for 14 years. 

Steinbach Arts Council is calling for creations from local artists

Attention all local artists, enthusiasts and creatives. Steinbach Arts Council wants to feature your work. 

The 25th Annual Southeast Open Judged Exhibit will take place in March of 2023 and is open to everyone that resides in the southeast. 

Executive Director David Klassen says it is the “perfect opportunity” to exhibit your creations. 

"The whole crowd goes wild": Finley Hiebert shows his moves on the basketball court

Finley Hiebert is growing up right before our eyes. The 13-year-old now plays on the basketball team at Stonybrook Middle School. 

For those unfamiliar with Finley’s story, he was born with Down Syndrome. He and his mother, Brittney Hiebert, have advocated for inclusion ever since.
