Minister Hajdu backs Liberal candidate David Bruno

Over the weekend Kenora’s Liberal candidate David Bruno held his campaign launch to address to the region his plan to paint the riding red.

Among constituents, supporters, and volunteers the Minister of Health of Canada Patty Hajdu joined the launch virtually in support of Bruno.

“It’s really great to see David step up to be the Liberal candidate for the Kenora district. He is one of the kindest most compassionate people I have ever met. Kindness and compassion is actually exactly what we need in our politicians, we need people who can listen,” said Hajdu

PPC leader Max Bernier packs crowd for town hall

If the size of the crowd at the People's Party of Canada (PPC) event yesterday is any indication, the party is gaining a foothold in Cochrane.

A town hall with Party leader Maxime Bernier and Banff-Airdrie candidate Nadine Wellwood attracted over 300 people, about 140 per cent more than a similar visit during the 2019 federal election. The audience was vocal, fed up, and outright angry, particularly with how governments and organizations have started to dictate mandatory immunizations against COVID-19.

Bernier says they are not anti-vaccine, they are pro-choice.

Candidates asked to pledge support for rural priorities

Broadband, disaster mitigation and recovery, infrastructure, and drought recovery are key issues facing rural municipalities.

The Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) are bringing the list to the attention of all federal election candidates and asking for a pledge of support.

RMA president Paul McLauchlin says while some may find elections chaotic and annoying, it's an important time to reach out to candidates so they understand the needs of rural municipalities.

PPC candidate rejects mandatory vaccines, vaccine passports

People's Party of Canada (PPC) candidate Nadine Wellwood rejects mandatory vaccines and vaccine passports, called it an infringement upon the guaranteed rights of Canadians.

Nadine Wellwood says the Canadian Bill of Rights and our Charter of Rights and Freedoms were written for exactly moments like this.

"These laws were put there for times of crisis like this. We don't need laws for when everything goes well, we need laws for when people are being challenged and things go awry."

Bruno in favour of vaccine passports

Canadian travelers have been watching as fully vaccinated Americans have entered Canada for non-essential travel, and Canadian’s want their opportunity to travel down south.

That travel bug urge will have to wait a little longer as the US government extended their border closure last week until September 21, 2021.

Kenora Liberal candidate David Bruno says the acceleration of the US land and sea borders opening will depend on the vaccination rates of Canadian’s.

Sarah Zagoda named NDP candidate for Banff-Airdrie

Airdrie resident Sarah Zagoda has been named the candidate for New Democratic Party (NDP) in the Banff-Airdrie constituency.

"I'm running because I want to represent Airdrie and our area. We've had the same stagnant representation for many years now, and I think it's time for a change, and I want to be that change," says Zagoda.

She is a strong advocate for public education, prescription coverage, dental care, mental health support, and helping regular families. She believes the NDP offers the best solutions to these issues.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh visits Kenora and stands with Janine Seymour

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh continued his campaign yesterday with a pit stop in Kenora to visit Kenora NDP candidate Janine Seymour and the surrounding community.

Singh had the opportunity to meet and greet with residents, take pictures and listen to the concerns of area residents.

“Vaccines are the safest tool": PC Leader Erin O'Toole on vaccine passports

Vaccination rates continue to climb across Canada, which has allowed provinces to slowly remove COVID-19 measures and allow people a sense of normalcy.

To limit the spread of COVID-19 provinces like British Columbia, Manitoba, and Quebec have introduced a vaccine passport that provides proof of vaccination to allow people access to non-essential services.

Conservative leader Erin O’Toole joined the Q Morning Show this morning to share his thoughts on a country-wide vaccine passport if elected.
