Ron Voss enters race to push for independent Alberta

If elected Banff-Airdrie MP, Cochrane resident Ron Voss vows to not go to Ottawa.

Instead, the independent candidate says he'll stay in Alberta and use the resources allotted to advance the cause of Alberta's independence and self-determination.

"My intent in running is to interject into the conversation the question, 'What's in it for Alberta by sending a politician to Ottawa?' So I think the place of Alberta, whether it's in confederation or out, should be part of the debate for everybody who wants better for Alberta."

Conservatives reveal plan to end the opioid crisis

On Sunday, the Conservatives announced their plan to end the opioid crisis and invest in mental health and addictions treatment.

This investment is part of the Secure Mental Health pillar of the party's “Canada’s Recovery Plan”, which was created to rebuild the economy and secure a future for Canadians.

NDP candidate Janine Seymour bringing a voice to the people of the region

The 2021 federal election is just under a month away and Kenora riding candidates are in full swing with their campaigns.

KenoraOnline had the chance to speak with Kenora NDP candidate Janine Seymour about the key issues in the region she is fighting for.

“I believe the NDP has the strongest platform aligned with the issues in the area. The national and universal healthcare, which extends to mental health. I think that is a priority especially for this region with the highest number of residential schools per capita,” said Seymour

Liberal candidate David Bruno fighting to protect NWO forests

People of Northwestern Ontario have witnessed one of the worst fire seasons in years past.

This year alone a total of 1154 forest fires have been discovered in Ontario this fire season, compared to the 581 fires discovered last year.

Northwestern Ontario native and Kenora Liberal candidate David Bruno have seen the effects forest fires have had on the region, and if elected wants to make add more firefighting resources to the region.

PPC leader Max Bernier here Monday

People's Party of Canada (PPC) leader Maxime Bernier is in Cochrane for a two-hour town hall with local candidate Nadine Wellwood at the Cochrane Lions Event Centre on Monday, Aug. 30 from 4 to 6 p.m.

PPC candidate Nadine Wellwood says there will be a couple of short speeches, but the focus is primarily on listening to residents and answering their questions.

Banff-Airdrie candidate putting big focus on rights and freedoms

Once again, the People's Party of Canada (PPC) will be on the ballot for local voters on Sept. 20.

Cochrane resident Nadine Wellwood who first ran in 2019, will again be on the campaign trail for the PPC.

Back in 2019, Wellwood finished with 3.4 per cent of the vote for Banff-Airdrie, behind candidate Austin Mullins of the Green Party.

Craig Martin announces candidacy for People's Party of Canada

The latest candidate in the Kenora riding has been named for this year's federal election.

Yesterday, Craig Martin an acupuncturist from Kenora announced he will be representing the People’s Party of Canada.

“The political situation in Canada had eroded so badly, that I started looking for an avenue to do it and then when I came across the People’s Party of Canada and saw the platform, it fell in line with my personal views on how government should be run, so I started pursuing membership and then a candidacy,” said Martin
