Policy important for Green Party's Rheault heading into the debate

A pivotal moment in the election takes place this week as the Kenora riding's candidates take part in the only all candidates debate in the region.

Ahead of the debate, all the local candidates are preparing to take the stage. KenoraOnline and DrydenNow sat down with the candidates to talk about their strategy heading into Thursday evening.

Remi Rheault, the Green Party candidate, says his focus at the debate will be on policy.

PPC Craig Martin preparing to answer tough questions at All Candidates Debate

It’s been all business for Craig Martin, the Kenora riding’s Peoples Party of Canada candidate, preparing himself for the upcoming federal election on September 20, 2021.

“My campaign’s been going really well, there is a mountain of support in this region for the PPC, and I think there is an understanding there that the Conservative Party has become conservative by name only, and that the People’s Party is the only party out there standing up for conservative values and rural conservative values,” said Martin

Elections Canada warns against election sign tampering

Election officials are warning people that tampering with election signs can come with serious consequences after a number of signs have been vandalized throughout the province.

The federal election has sprouted party ads of all stripes and colours on lawns, boulevards and roadsides across the country. Some signs have been driven over or even crunched up and thrown into the ditch.

Melillo ready for upcoming All Candidates Debate on Thursday

Kenora Conservative candidate Eric Melillo continues his door-knocking and traveling the region to inform residents of his platform if re-elected.

In the midst of the vigorous, and short-lived campaign Melillo is working out the final details of his strategy going into the All Candidates Debate on Thursday.

“I’ve been reviewing the topics, and making a few notes to make sure we’re prepared for that debate. Our focus still remains on knocking on as many doors as possible and sharing our message with voters that way,” said Melillo

Maxime Bernier holds campaign rallies in Manitoba

The leader of the People's Party of Canada made three appearances in Manitoba on Monday as the federal election campaign ramps up.

Maxime Bernier held rallies in Steinbach, on a farm near Plum Coulee, and at The Forks in Winnipeg. Hundreds of people showed up at the Steinbach rally, while around 1,000 people attended the other two events.

Bernier spoke against vaccine mandates and did not quarantine upon arrival in the province, a requirement for unvaccinated people. Bernier says he has chosen not to be vaccinated.

Bruno preparing for All Candidates Debate

The 2021 federal election is fast approaching, and Kenora’s Liberal candidate David Bruno is doing everything in his power to make himself known to the community.

Earlier this week, Bruno and his campaign team caught residents on their way to work by just being friendly to people, waving his campaign signs, and letting people know who he is.

Federal election candidates forum on Sept. 14

Details have been finalized for a federal election candidates forum on Tuesday, Sept. 14.

Organized by the Cochrane and District Chamber of Commerce, it's being held at RockPointe Church, 255024 Lochend Rd., just east of town adjacent to Hwy. 1A.

The church has a seating capacity of 700 people.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., a half-hour before the forum begins, then it will last just one hour from 7 to 8 p.m. with an additional half-hour set aside afterward for some one-on-one discussions with candidates.

Seymour, if elected enhancing quality of life to the region

Kenora riding NDP candidate Janine Seymour is not backing down from her fight to bring a voice to NWO, bring the people together as one, and enhance the quality of life.

Her powerful voice and plans to bring real change across the region have brought her national media attention, which Seymour says is very exciting.

The real change that she wants to bring to the region is to reach and achieve a healthy sustainable community that everyone prospers in. In the end, this allows a better quality of life for the community as a whole.

Maverick Tariq Elnaga holding town hall tonight

Maverick Party candidate Tariq Elnaga is holding a town hall tonight at Frank Wills Memorial Hall to provide further insight into the new Western-based political party for voters.

Running exclusively in Conservative strongholds in Western Canadian, the party was formed to stand up for the West.

"The difference between us and any other party is we have zero votes to tender, win or lose in Quebec and Ontario, and that makes a huge difference," says Elnaga.

KDCC hosting All Candidates Debate next Thursday

In preparation for this fall's federal election, the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce has announced they will be hosting an All Candidates Debate.

The debate will take place on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Seven Generation’s Auditorium.
