Klippers young guns take down Broncos 3-1

The Kindersley Jr. Klippers played their first home game of the pre-season on Tuesday night as they welcomed in the division rival Humboldt Broncos.

Icing a young lineup including local AAA players and 2025 draft picks, the Klippers scored each period to earn a 3-1-win against the Broncos ahead of a return trip to Humboldt on Monday for their second last game of the preseason.

Kindersley RCMP remind drivers to watch for school buses, students as classes resume

With students back in class across west-central Saskatchewan, Kindersley RCMP are reminding motorists to take extra care around schools and school buses.

Staff Sgt. Andrew with Kindersley RCMP said officers were present in Eatonia, Eston, Kindersley, and Rosetown on the first day of school to help ensure children arrived safely. While most drivers were cautious, police say they did notice some parents failing to stop when school bus lights were flashing and the stop arm was extended.

Kindersley family seeking support as young son begins brain tumour treatment

A Kindersley family is asking for prayers and financial support as their six-year-old son begins months of treatment following a brain tumour diagnosis earlier this summer.

On Aug. 11, doctors at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon discovered a three-centimetre tumour in Ghio Villanea. He underwent surgery two days later, but physicians found fragments that had already started to grow.

Ghio is now preparing for chemotherapy and radiation therapy on September 10th, a process expected to take several months.

A revolutionary piece of agricultural technology is making waves in the fields of southern Saskatchewan. The NEXAT, a multi-functional farming system manufactured in Germany, has arrived at Chute Farms Joint Venture at Moose Jaw.

Rhett Chute says NEXAT reached out to them earlier in the summer to see if they would be interested in trying the prototype, and they were able to reach an agreement.

Ottawa sets 100-day timeline to fix CRA call centre delays

The federal finance minister said Tuesday he wants to address service delays at the Canada Revenue Agency within 100 days, even as Ottawa plans spending cuts across the public service.

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne set the timeline in a letter to Liberal MP Karina Gould, chair of the House of Commons finance committee, which was posted to his X account Tuesday morning.

In that letter, he said it's "increasingly apparent" the CRA is not meeting Canadians' standards.

Federal NDP launches leadership race

The federal NDP officially launched the race to find its next leader on Tuesday, leaving seven months for interested candidates to mount a campaign.

The next NDP leader will be elected at a national convention in Winnipeg in March.

In a news release, the party says there has been strong interest in the leadership contest since Aug. 20, when the application packages were made available.

Killam/Forestburg RCMP arrest man after Flagstaff County break-in

Killam/Forestburg RCMP say a 45-year-old man has been arrested following a break-and-enter at a rural Flagstaff County residence.

Police were called to the property near Killam at approximately 10:16 p.m. on Aug. 27 after a male was reported attempting to enter the home. According to RCMP, the homeowner and a female visitor saw the man on the property. The accused, who was reportedly highly intoxicated, claimed he lived there.
