The Funeral Service for Nettie Zacharias will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 1:00 pm from the Living Faith Fellowship Church in Herbert, SK with Pastor Donovan Epp officiating.

**The service is being recorded and will be posted on the funeral home website as soon as possible.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Swift Current Funeral Home.

The Interment Service for Mrs. Nettie Zacharias will take place at Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK.

Ardens captain overjoyed by Provincial title run

For only the second time in school history, the Swift Current Comp. Ardens are 5A Girls' Volleyball Provincial champions.

Swift Current defeated Balgonie Greenall Saturday to capture the provincial title for the first time since 2016.

Ardens co-captain Madison Yates is one of three graduating players and was thrilled to end her high school volleyball career on a high note.

Section of South Service Road to be closed most of tomorrow

Original Story - 3:38 P.M. Nov. 18, 2024:

South Service Road will be closed tomorrow in Swift Current. 

The City will replace a culvert, during the work of which a detour will be in place. Signage will be posted. 

The closed section of the road will stretch from 17th Avenue Northwest to 19th Avenue Northwest. 

More provincial/regional volleyball results

While the Swift Current Comp Ardens celebrated a 5A girls provincial volleyball championship, several other local teams also participated in provincial or regional tournaments. 

The Swift Current Comp Colts had a strong showing in the round robin at 5A boys provincials in Balgonie.

They went 3-1 with wins over PA Carlton, Regina LeBoldus and Regina Winston Knoll. Their only loss came against eventual silver medalists Saskatoon Aden Bowman.

Christmas Kettle Campaign sets its sights near quarter-million-dollar mark

The Salvation Army Swift Current's largest annual fundraiser is underway.

Swift Current Mayor Al Bridal and Salvation Army Captains Ian and Deanna Scott officially began the Christmas Kettle Campaign on Saturday afternoon at the Swift Current Mall.

This year's financial goal is $240,000, which will be used for the food bank, kids' camps, clothing, and programming.

Reflecting on low voter turnout in Swift Current election

The new Swift Current city council will swear in at a ceremony later tonight.

Mayor Al Bridal returns for his second term. He's joined by incumbents Ryan Plewis, Ryan Switzer, Leanne Tuntland-Wiebe and Tom Christiansen.

Tonight will also mark the return to council for Bruce Deg after he served from 2016 to 2020, and the first council meeting for newcomer Courtney Stewart.

Local artists to be featured in the AGSC's latest exhibition

The Art Gallery of Swift Current will soon be opening up a unique new exhibition, the Members' Snow & Sale. 

The Snow & Sale will sell and showcase artworks by local artists who are members of the Art Gallery from November 22 to January 4.

Luke Maddaford, curator of exhibitions and programming at the Art Gallery of Swift Current, highlighted that the Art Gallery doesn't normally have items on display for sale so this is a unique opportunity.
