Agnes Braun, 98, of Winnipeg passed away Wednesday, October 16th at her residence. She is survived by 1 daughter, 1 son, and 1 brother. She was predeceased by her husband Jacob, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.
The celebration of life service for Agnes Braun will be held Wednesday, October 23rd at 11am at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street.

The federal government is expected to boost the minimum hourly wage that must be paid to temporary foreign workers in the high-wage stream as a way to encourage employers to hire more Canadian staff.
B.C. election recounts triggered in two ridings, delaying result for a week
British Columbia's redrawn political landscape won't be settled for about a week, with manual recounts triggered in two key ridings after a nail-biting provincial election that has yet to produce a clear winner.
Elections BC said Sunday the recounts will take place from Oct. 26 to 28 in Juan de Fuca-Malahat and Surrey City Centre, where NDP candidates lead B.C. Conservatives by fewer than 100 votes.

The Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders and Vincent Massey Vikings were winners in the Westman High School Hockey League Sunday in Brandon. Neilan Slater had a goal and two assists as the Raiders defeated Crocus Plains 5-2. Jesse Wilton, Aubrey Cuvelier and Kaleb Friesen also scored for the Raiders. Drayden Murray had both goals for the Plainsmen. Joey Leblanc had a hat trick and Josh Romanik chipped in with two goals and four assists as the defending champion Vikings blanked the Major Pratt Trojans 12-0. Landon McGregor made 17 saves in recording the shutout.
Private Members' Bill blames pandemics on animal agriculture says Ag Critic
Alberta MP and Conservative Agriculture Critic John Barlow has been receiving a number of emails from Canadians who are concerned about Private Members' Bill C-293, which now sits before the Senate.
He says while the primary objective of the bill is pandemic prevention and preparedness, it contains content and language that will adversely affect Canadian farmers and ranchers.
Pre-development work soon to start for YWCA's capital project
The YWCA Westman is closing the gap of securing their funds to putting out the call for request for proposals for their pre-development work for their build project to build the new Meredith Place Women's Shelter in Brandon.
"We've been able to secure the funding that would provide us the ability to engage in a consultant and with professionals who can help us to determine what type of building and the size of the building and all of the different services that we'll be able to provide at that facility," shares Executive Director, Lois Ruston.

An 18-year-old male turned himself into the Brandon Police Service after becoming aware of a warrant for his arrest for breaching probation. He was released with a later court date.
A 17-year-old female attempted to turn herself in at Brandon Correctional Center on her breach of probation warrant. She was lodged until sober and released with a later court date.

Alleged members of an Indian gang and its leader have been sending shivers down the spines of members of the South Asian diaspora in Canada for years, says a city councillor in Richmond, B.C.
Kash Heed said the Bishnoi gang, led by Lawrence Bishnoi, gained notoriety and instilled fear among Indian Canadians well before the RCMP accused the syndicate this week of orchestrating violent crimes on Canadian soil.
No clear winner in B.C. election, Conservative leader says province 'changed forever'
There was no clear winner in Saturday's British Columbia election, but the leader of the B.C. Conservatives says the province's political landscape has "changed forever," after his party pushed the incumbent New Democrats to the brink.
Neither party won enough seats to claim a majority, and vote counting was set to continue Sunday, with Premier David Eby's NDP in striking range of a minority government if he gets the co-operation of the Greens, who won two seats.
Potential recounts mean it could be next week before the winner is decided.
A Tribute to the 1940s: Benefit Concert for Air Training Plan Museum
The Mark Humphries Orchestra will be performing at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium in mid-November, this in support of the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum located just north of Brandon.
The benefit concert will feature Big Band music from the 1940's with instrumental and vocal performances from Humphries and musicians from across Westman, as well as from eastern Saskatchewan.
Humphries has been sharing his love of orchestral jazz and swing music since a teenager back in his home country of England.
