The Manitoba government, in partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Manitoba Association of Chiefs of Police, is assisting the City of Dauphin in addressing crime by using funds from the Criminal Property Forfeiture Fund to help install 15 additional CCTV cameras, Justice Minister Matt Wiebe announced today.

The Brandon Regional Health Centre (BRHC) Emergency Department exit ramp will be down to one lane only for vehicles and ambulances leaving this area beginning Tuesday, October 22.
There will be no parking on the ramp for anyone.
Emergency department drop-off and pick-up are still accessible; however, there is no parking or waiting due to limited space.
Do not park in front of or block the ambulance bays.

For Monday, October 21, 2024 crop residue burning is AUTHORIZED from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM in all municipalities in the WESTLAKE/INTERLAKE ZONE and the SOUTHWEST and the NORTHWEST ZONES.

At 9:30AM police attended an establishment in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue for a female who was refusing to leave. The 47-year-old woman had an unendorsed Warrant of Arrest. She was arrested, brought to detention cells and held overnight for court in the morning on October 21st.

The federal government is expected to boost the minimum hourly wage that must be paid to temporary foreign workers in the high-wage stream as a way to encourage employers to hire more Canadian staff.
B.C. election recounts triggered in two ridings, delaying result for a week
British Columbia's redrawn political landscape won't be settled for about a week, with manual recounts triggered in two key ridings after a nail-biting provincial election that has yet to produce a clear winner.
Elections BC said Sunday the recounts will take place from Oct. 26 to 28 in Juan de Fuca-Malahat and Surrey City Centre, where NDP candidates lead B.C. Conservatives by fewer than 100 votes.

The Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders and Vincent Massey Vikings were winners in the Westman High School Hockey League Sunday in Brandon. Neilan Slater had a goal and two assists as the Raiders defeated Crocus Plains 5-2. Jesse Wilton, Aubrey Cuvelier and Kaleb Friesen also scored for the Raiders. Drayden Murray had both goals for the Plainsmen. Joey Leblanc had a hat trick and Josh Romanik chipped in with two goals and four assists as the defending champion Vikings blanked the Major Pratt Trojans 12-0. Landon McGregor made 17 saves in recording the shutout.
