Rocky View Schools offering a number of summer programs
Now that summer is officially here for students, Rocky View Schools (RVS) would like to remind Airdronians of several summer programs available through their free Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) initiative.
"From creative activities to outdoor adventures, our programs are designed to be inclusive, engaging and enriching for all families in our communities," shared RVS.

Energy study wraps up for Altona's MEC
The results are in for a professional energy modeling study conducted on the Millenium Exhibition Centre (MEC) in Altona.
The study was the final phase in a three-year community climate project between a local working group and industry experts to identify climate actions and opportunities in the community, and funded, in part, through a $50,000 grant from the Manitoba Climate Action Team.
The focus was to uncover future opportunities for geo-thermal integration and energy capture from the hockey arena and curling rink.

Cemetery flags pay tribute to Portage’s fallen heroes
Volunteers gathered at Hillside Cemetery over the weekend to place Canadian flags beside the graves of local veterans in advance of Canada Day.
Bob Oldford says the group came together Saturday to recognize those who served.
“We had a group of folks came out and helped us put flags on the veterans’ graves,” notes Oldford.
Oldford estimates the number of veterans buried at Hillside is around 300, though not all are easily identified.
He adds that the section of the cemetery for the fallen is included in the effort.
New federal disability payments roll out in July
Several Government of Canada payments are scheduled to roll out over the coming weeks, with eligible Canadians seeing multiple deposits land in their bank accounts throughout July.
Key benefit dates to watch
The first federal payment of the month is the GST/HST credit, which is set to arrive on Friday, July 4. This quarterly credit helps offset the cost of the goods and services tax for lower- and modest-income individuals and families.
Future development means infrastructure changes for west Niverville
A big change is coming to the west side of Niverville, after Town Council gave the green light to a road closure and land sale that clears the way for a major development project.
On June 17, Council approved final readings of By-Law 876-25 and 877-25, which closes off a planned but unbuilt road called Venture Way. The land will now be sold to Avedo Construction, who plans to build high-density apartments, condos, and commercial spaces in the area near Krahn Road.
