Public survey now open in Drumheller to shape future community standards bylaw
The Town of Drumheller is launching a public survey for residents to give feedback on the updated community standards bylaw.
According to the town, the public participation plan was approved by council on March 3, with the survey launching just two days later.
"The public engagement will include a survey where residents can rank community standards issues based on importance," wrote the town on its website.
Although specific changes have not been given, the public's feedback will be used to guide the development and priorities of the new bylaw.
True North Society to raise funds for programming to help domestic violence survivors
Members of the True North Society are hosting a special event to raise funds for residents impacted by domestic violence.
The group serves residents in Strathmore and over 15 surrounding communities.
Rochelle Mathieu, events and fundraiser lead for True North, said the Spring Tea & Fashion Show fundraiser will be hosted at The Gathering Ranch April 26.
Rocky View County celebrates Global Recycling Day
Rocky View County is celebrating Global Recycling Day.
The day was established in 2018 to recognize and celebrate the importance of recycling in preserving resources and land around the world.
"Every bottle, can, or piece of paper recycled helps preserve the farmland, open spaces, and wildlife we love and cherish," wrote the county.
"Whether you use curbside recycling or drop off recyclable materials at your local transfer site, you're keeping valuable resources out of the landfill and giving them new life."

Travel Drumheller has recently released an exploration guide for tourists and residents to learn about the valley.
According to the group, there are several places for people to check out including the World's Largest Dinosaur, motorcycle trips around the Badlands, and the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology.
Annual inflation rate jumps to 2.6% in February with tax holiday end: StatCan
The annual rate of inflation accelerated sharply to 2.6 per cent in February as the federal government’s temporary tax break came to an end mid-month, Statistics Canada said Tuesday.
That marks a sizeable jump from the 1.9 per cent increase seen in January, when Canadians saw GST and HST taken off a variety of household staples, common gifts and restaurant bills for the entire month.

Siksika Nation High School is hosting a post-secondary fair for students and residents.
"Learn more about post-secondary programs that you will have access to. Dinner will be provided," said the nation.
Hoop Dancer Tyrone Sitting Eagle will perform during the event that will run on April 17 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Carney announces plans to boost Canada's military footprint in the Arctic
Prime Minister Mark Carney said Tuesday that Ottawa will expand the Canadian Armed Forces’ presence in the Arctic and turn to Australia's over-the-horizon radar tech to monitor threats from adversaries such as China and Russia.
Carney also pledged $253 million in new funding for Indigenous reconciliation initiatives in the North.

Prime Minister Mark Carney says United States President Donald Trump will have to stop his "disrespectful" comments about Canada before the two countries can have comprehensive bilateral conversations about trade and security.
"We've called out those comments. They're disrespectful, they're not helpful, and they need to stop," Carney said in response to a question regarding Trump's repeated remarks about Canada becoming the 51st state.
"They will have to stop before we sit down and have a conversation about our broader partnership with the United States."
Farmers preparing for spring seeding reminded to Keep It Clean
As the snow continues to melt across the prairies, farmers are gearing up for the busy seeding season. According to Ian Epp, agronomy specialist with the Canola Council of Canada, moisture levels across much of the region appear sufficient for crop germination.
"It looks to me like we've had enough moisture throughout winter. Obviously, we always need more during the summer season, but there's enough out there to get us up and going. Some areas are better than others but in general things look pretty good heading into spring.”
Strathmore Library displays Irish books for St. Patrick's Day
To get into the St. Patrick's Day mood, the Strathmore Municipal Library has set up an Irish-themed book display.
The diorama was placed in the library last week and will remain up for most of this week.
According to staff, the library sets up special displays depending on events and the month.
