Alberta RCMP are looking for a suspect wanted for several crimes throughout the province.

As part of the Wanted Wednesday program, officers shared an image of Cody Allen Lee Fehr, saying that he's wanted for crimes in Brooks, Coaldale, Lethbridge County, Taber, Lomond, and Bow Island.

Police believe that Fehr was last seen in the Taber area.

Officers ask that residents do not approach Fehr if he is spotted, and to instead call your local police detachment.

Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada will take "some time" on its response to increased U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum.

Tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum to the United States increased to 50 per cent on Wednesday after President Donald Trump followed through on his vow to double the duties.

On his way into the weekly Liberal caucus meeting in Ottawa today, Carney said Canada is in "intensive" discussions with the U.S. on trade.

The Bank of Canada held its benchmark interest rate steady at 2.75 per cent Wednesday as policymakers keep waiting for more clarity on how tariffs will impact the economy.

“Uncertainty remains high,” Bank of Canada governor Tiff Macklem said in prepared remarks after the release of the rate decision.

“At this decision, there was a clear consensus to hold policy unchanged as we gain more information.”

Economists and financial markets widely expected the second consecutive hold.

The Redneck Rumble lacrosse tournament returned to Strathmore over the weekend.

The event featured 18 teams from across the province, including as far as Edmonton, at the Strathmore Family Centre. Ages ranged from U15 to U17.

"It was wonderful. We had lots of competitive teams from all over the place," said chairman director Andrea Blackley. "It was really good, well put on, and a good, competitive tournament."

The U15B and U17B Venom teams placed bronze in the tournament, with the U15C team barely missing third spot.

Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree introduced the Strong Borders Act in the House of Commons on Tuesday.

Canada's tourism industry might be in for a boost as Canadians boycott the United States and spend their travel dollars closer to home this year.

In a report released May 29, the Conference Board of Canada estimates the net economic benefit for the domestic tourism sector could be as high as $8.8 billion.

The think tank said its April travel intentions survey suggests roughly 27 per cent of Canadian respondents are considering a trip to the U.S. in the next few years - down from more than 50 per cent in the same survey last November.

The Chestermere Fire Department received a new fire truck.

Mayor Shannon Dean and City Council presented the truck, called Engine 116, on May 27. The truck will replace the department's 15-year-old primary engine.  

"It's all about safety for the citizens and the firefighters," explained firefighter Brent Paquette. 

Farmers are winding down their seeding operations in Manitoba

Cereal Specialist Anne Kirk put together this week's crop report and says provincially 95 per cent of the crop is now in the ground.

The Chestermere Annual Parade of Garage Sales took place in the city over the weekend.

Around 200 homes took part in the city-wide event, with around 1,000 residents attending.

One of the garage sales was made to raise funds for Cam Kenney, with the funds being used to support him after a kidney transplant.

"I have Type 1 diabetes and celiac disease, and because of having both, it breaks up my kidney function," said Kenney. "I have swelling in my legs all the time, and it can take days for food to digest."
