Update: Collision on QEII snarls traffic north of Airdrie

An earlier motor vehicle collision on the QEII, southbound near Township Road 310 south of Didsbury, near the junction with Highway 582, has been cleared.

Earlier this afternoon, there were reports of traffic congestion in the area as well as delays. Motorists were asked to drive with caution. There were no other details on the collision, including whether there were any injuries sustained. 

More pothole repairs may cause major traffic delays north of Airdrie

Beginning at 8 a.m. this morning, till 3 p.m., motorists can expect significant delays north of Airdrie on the QEII due to pothole repairs.

The repairs will be on the QEII northbound, from Highway 2A to Township Road 292 near Crossfield. There will be a double left-handed lane closure with speeds reduced to 80 km/hour, with no passing.

Update: Traffic at a standstill for kilometres on QEII outside Airdrie 

The previous massive traffic backlog southbound on the QEII to Calgary has been cleared.

Earlier this afternoon, motorists travelling southbound on the QEII experienced massive delays due to pothole repair southbound from Highway 566 in Balzac to Calgary city limits. The pothole repair shut down the left and center lanes with speed reductions to 80 km/hour, with no passing until 3 p.m. 

Update: Southbound Stoney Trail closure, use alternate route

At approximately 9:40 on Tuesday morning, Calgary Police stated that all lanes of southbound Stoney Trail, between Airport Trail and McKnight Boulevard Northeast, had re-opened.

Earlier this morning, Calgary police were on the scene with a collision reconstruction team on southbound Stoney Trail following a serious injury collision that occurred. The incident has prompted authorities to close the road between McKnight Boulevard Northeast and Airport Trail Northeast.

Update: Cochrane RCMP respond to serious collision, Highway 1A impassable

A previous highway closure west of Cochrane has been re-opened. On Monday evening, Mounties were on the scene of a serious motor collision west of Ghost Lake Village on Highway 1A. At the time, Highway 1A was impassable and motorists were asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

According to police, today just after 5 p.m., Cochrane RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit, along with emergency crews and STARS Air Ambulance, responded to a serious collision. 

Police said an update is anticipated.

More pothole repairs on major highway near Airdrie

More pothole repairs are slated to begin Tuesday and last until Wednesday afternoon on the QEII northbound between Highway 556 and Airdrie, impacting lanes and speeds in the area.

The repairs are slated to start at 10 a.m. Tuesday and finish near 3 p.m. on both days. Motorists can expect two left lane closures and speed reductions to 80 kilometres an hour in the work zone.

Update: Two motor vehicle collisions on Stoney Trail have snarled traffic

An earlier motor vehicle collision southwest of Airdrie, on Highway 201, heading westbound near Deerfoot Trail Northbound, has been cleared, while another motor vehicle collision, approaching 14 Street Northwest, has also been cleared.

Previously the two collisions on Stoney Trail were causing delays.

Highway east of Airdrie re-opened after dump truck and sedan collision 

One person was transported to the hospital in stable condition, following a serious two-vehicle collision east of Airdrie near Range Road 13 and Highway 566, earlier today.

This afternoon, Mounties said that Highway 566, near Range Road 13 has been re-opened. Earlier in the day, the highway was reduced to one lane for several hours as fire crews, EMS, and police were on the scene of the collision.
