Lane closures and delays on QEII between Airdrie and Calgary

Motorists can expect significant traffic delays starting at 9 a.m. northbound on the QEII between Airdrie and Calgary due to spray patching. The spray patching will continue until 3 p.m. today and also Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Motorists can expect a speed reduction to 80 kilometres an hour and lane closures in the left-hand and middle lanes. 

Update: Police warn of closures on Highway 1A

Emergency crews have cleared the scene of a previous motor vehicle collision on Highway 1A between Range Road 33 and 35 near Cochrane.

Previously, police advised motorists that westbound traffic was being redirected while emergency crews cleaned the scene. 

There were no other details as to the cause of the collision or the extent of injuries. 

Update: Traffic incident on QEII causes major delays

A motor vehicle collision north of Airdrie on the QEII near Crossfield that was impacting the southbound lanes, has been cleared, 

Just before 1 pm, STARS air ambulance posted to its X account that it had been dispatched for an emergency scene call in the Crossfield area. Still, it is unclear if it responded to the vehicular collision.

Update: Heavy traffic delays reported southbound on the QEII

Earlier on Friday evening, there were reports of a southbound multi-vehicle collision on the QEII near Balzac.

The collision has since been cleared. However, there may be residual traffic in the area.

No other details were provided, and no word on whether any injuries were involved in the collision has been released.

Highway 16 in Jasper: Open for commercial vehicles during limited hours

Access through Jasper National Park via Highway 16 is now open only to commercial vehicles.

According to 511 Alberta, commercial vehicles- which are trucks, tractors, trailers, or any combination thereof, with a registered gross vehicle weight exceeding 11,794 kilograms can access the route during the following times:

Update: Caution urged: Debris on 40th Avenue Overpass

Earlier on Wednesday morning, there were reports of debris on the exit ramp on the 40th Avenue overpass southbound onto the QEII.

Motorists were asked to exercise caution in the area as it was not clear when the debris would be removed.

Airdrie road work alert: Key closures starting tonight

Several road and lane closures will occur this week in and around Airdrie. Motorists are asked to exercise caution and obey all traffic signs in the construction areas.

Closures include:

  • Intermittent lane closure on Main Street South on Monday, July 29 from 7:30 p.m. to 6 am. The closure is to accommodate milling and paving for the 2024 Road Rehabilitation Program.

Update: Motor vehicle collision near Cross Iron Mills Mall snarls weekend traffic

A previously reported motor vehicle collision on the QEII, Southbound near Cross Iron Drive, south of Balzac, has been cleared.

The collision was impacting the middle lane. Motorists were urged to proceed with caution, as the area had speed reductions and traffic congestion.

There was no word on injuries.

Update: Motor vehicle collision reported on busy Airdrie roadway

A previous motor vehicle collision on Yankee Boulevard has since been cleared.

Earlier this evening, RCMP confirmed the collision occurred. 

An eye witness reported that the collision occurred westbound heading towards the QEII southbound. Reports stated that the collision may have also resulted in debris being strewn onto the road.

However, Mounties said that no injuries were reported, though lanes were blocked due to the collision. 

Motorists were asked to drive with caution in the area.
