Swift Current's Cassidy shines at Brick Invitational Hockey Tournament

Swift Current's Cayson Cassidy put on a show at one of the biggest hockey tournaments in the world.

The 10-year-old led the Saskatchewan Junior Pats in points at the 2025 Brick Invitational Hockey Tournament.

Unity hosting AAA baseball on Tuesday night

The Zone 7 Sun Devils 18U AAA baseball team has a home game in Unity tonight, one of their several home locations being an area-based team.

First pitch set at 6:30, the Sun Devils are taking on the Swift Current 57's. The Sun Devils are coming off a loss on Sunday to the Parkland Expos 14-8, but before that the team rattled off a pair of wins against the South East Twins 7-2 and 4-1 in a Saturday doubleheader.

Estevan officer wins silver at World Police and Fire Games

When Michelle Beaulieu first heard about the World Police and Fire Games, she knew it was something she wanted to be a part of. The Estevan police constable recently returned from the international event, where she competed in CrossFit for the first time and earned a silver medal in her age category.

Beaulieu and her husband spent five days in Birmingham, Alabama at the Games, which brought together first responders from around the globe. The event, styled like the Olympics, featured more than 60 sports and participants from about 70 countries.

Winnipeg Sea Bears release Tevian Jones

The Winnipeg Sea Bears announced Monday that Tevian Jones has been released from the club to pursue other professional opportunities. 

“The CEBL is a stepping-stone league, and we often see players come and go. We appreciate Tevian’s time with us in Winnipeg and wish him success in the next steps of his career,” said head coach and general manager Mike Taylor in a news release.

Jones played in 14 games for Winnipeg this season and the organization thanks him for his time and all the best in the future. 

Goldeyes' Warkentin named batter of the week

Winnipeg Goldeyes first baseman Matthew Warkentin has been named Carbliss American Association Batter of the Week for the period ending July 6, the league announced Monday afternoon.
 
Warkentin hit .500 over six games, with five doubles, two home runs, and eight runs batted in. He has recently improved his batting average to .293 and leads the club with ten home runs. The 28-year-old is tied for the team lead with 12 doubles and is second in RBIs with 34.

Pool B at the Calgary Stampede kicked off on Monday

Pool B at the Calgary Stampede kicked off on Monday with some impressive performances from some Albertans.

Three Albertans are in Ladies Barrel Racing, two Albertans are in Bull Riding, and two outstanding performances were had by Albertans in Saddle Bronc.

In Saddle Bronc, former Champion Zeke Thurston had an impressive ride, as did fellow Albertan Kolby Wanchuck.

Calgary's Chanse Vigen continues to dominate at the Calgary Stampede chuckwagon races.

Jamie Laboucane is right on his heels, sitting in second in the aggregate.

Neither has won the coveted Rangeland Derby.

On a night with better track conditions than Sunday, some fast times were posted, and penalties were kept to a minimum.

Defending champ, Jason Glass from High River, came in 8th on the night and is now sitting in 12th in the aggregate.
