Spring hockey staying busy at different levels
Young hockey players from around the region have been on the ice in different capacities to start April. A continuation of the Sask First program is now coinciding with spring hockey seasons instead of regular seasons and playoffs, as the 12-month rat race of kid's hockey rages on.
Sask First Female Under-16
On Tuesday the Top 40 roster was announced for Sask First Female U16, after hitting the ice in Regina for camp to start April.

Cochrane player in final rankings of NHL central scouting
Cochrane hockey player Kadon McCann has made the final list of potential picks for the NHL Draft in June.
McCann is 116th on the list and a potential fourth-round draft pick, according the central scouting.
Originally selected 23rd overall by the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 2022 WHL Draft, McCann is in his second full season with the Western Hockey League (WHL) club.

Social Bowl celebrates successful rec season at tournament
The Social Bowl wrapped up their adult recreation league season with a tournament on Saturday.
They had 22 teams, and it was a packed house all day.
"Today is one of my favorite days of the year," said owner Teagan Gader. "We have so many people come out and support the bowling alley it's awesome."
The Social Bowl has seen a spike in interest from southwest Saskatchewan.
"We started the beer league with 24 teams," Gader said. "We've grown it to 32 teams. Everyone has a great time. There are lots of prizes and lots of money handed out."
Cavalry FC on the lookout for its next Sarge
Cavalry FC is on the lookout for a new mascot performer.
The Canadian Premier League team is calling on submission for someone to fill the role of Sarge, the red horse who hypes up the home crowd at ATCO Field.
Sarge can be seen at Cavalry games and across their social media accounts.
The team's colours, crest, and theme allude to the Lord Strathcona's Horse armoured regiment, with Sarge bearing the same "Calgary Red" colour.
Estevan Mermaids earn multiple top finishes at provincials
The Estevan Mermaids Artistic Swimming Club brought home a wave of medals and top-10 finishes from a recent prairie competition, with athletes excelling in both individual and team events across multiple age categories.
In the 10U Limited category, Ciara Schell finished second, while Tylee Picton placed seventh and Laikynn Shier took ninth. In 12U Limited figures, Sophia Vibe came in sixth, Ella Biette was seventh, while Jillianne Velasquez, Ava Story and Brooklyn Saxon placed 15th, 17th and 19th, respectively.
Strathmore’s Nash Wassing helps Border Bruins capture first-ever Teck Cup
Nash Wassing can now add Teck Cup champion to his growing list of accomplishments.
Wassing, originally from Strathmore, won the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Teck Cup title with his team, the Grand Forks Border Bruins.
Red Wings are off to the SJHL Finals
Josh Sale tipped a point shot from Dallen Oxelgren just over five minutes into overtime to give the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings a berth in the SJHL finals. The goal gave the Red Wings a 3-2 win in the game and a 4-2 win in the series over the Flin Flon Bombers.
"I just saw the shot coming and realized I probably needed to deflect it," Sale said of the series-winning goal. "I deflected it in, and I kind of blacked out for a second, then realized we won. It's kind of the best feeling in the world."
