Roughriders hang on for a 28-23 win over the Tiger-Cats
It wasn’t a pretty win on Saturday, but the Saskatchewan Roughriders record is looking good at 2-0 following a 28-23 victory against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
After being injured in Week 1, running back AJ Ouellette and Rolan Milligan each made a big contribution to the win.
Ouellette had a 47-yard touchdown run that sparked the green and white offence in the second quarter.
Marysburg Royals sweep Outlaws in a Saturday doubleheader
The Marysburg Royals continued with their winning ways, taking both games in their doubleheader at home against the Saskatoon Outlaws.
In Game 1, the Royals prevailed 7-1 and in Game 2, they won convincingly 14-4.
Nick Anderson led Marysburg in the first game with a pair of hits and three RBIs, with Brent Puetz and Mick Rueve each chipping in with two hits each.
Beavers drop three on weekend road trip
The Weyburn Beavers came up short in their weekend swing through Regina and Saskatoon, falling in all three games to drop to 4-10 on the season.

It was an afternoon delight for local baseball fans yesterday as the Moose Jaw Miller Express unleashed a relentless attack on the Swift Current 57's. The Millers pounded out 29 hits on their way to a 27-2 win. It started with an 11-run first inning.
Thomas Soto went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI. Austin Gurney was 4 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Evan Deringer and Abe Ahlberg hit home runs for the winners.
The Millers, now 7 and 8 on the season, are back in action tomorrow night in Swift Current.
Buttar finishes second at PBR Ottawa Classic, maintains national lead
Dakota Buttar is still on top of the Canadian standings after a second-place finish at the PBR Ottawa Classic.
Maple Creek's Jared Parsonage won the event with a total ride score of 175 across two events, Buttar finishing second with a ride score of 169.5. That extra half point was just enough to edge Jake Gardner who finished third, currently chasing Buttar for first in the national standings.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders arrived in Hamilton for Week 2 of the CFL season riding the high of a 31-26 win against Ottawa, and maintained their perfect start with a strong second half effort for a 28-23 win over the Tiger-Cats on Saturday night to improve their early season record to 2-0.
Up-and-down weekend for 57's
A roller coaster weekend for the Swift Current 57's.
They played three games against Moose Jaw starting with a 16-6 loss on Friday.
On Saturday, Gus Koehn had 2 home runs in a 12-8 Swift Current win over the Miller Express.
Koehn wen 3 for 3 with 2 home runs, 2 walks, and 7 RBI for Swift Current.
Trigg Mapes went 3 for 5 with 5 RBIs.
Moose Jaw rebounded yesterday by blowing the 57's out 27-2.
The two clubs play again on Tuesday.

The Cochrane Wolves U10 PDP Girls soccer team is celebrating a pair of strong tournament finishes in back-to-back weekends.
The Wolves captured gold at the Airdrie Summit Cup after defeating the Calgary Blizzards in the final.

No sweep in Gary as Railcats top Goldeyes
The Gary SouthShore RailCats (9-24) avoided a series sweep at the hands of the Winnipeg Goldeyes (15-18) Sunday afternoon with a 9-1 victory at U.S. Steel Yard.
The RailCats got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when first baseman Joe Suozzi drew a bases-loaded walk that forced in LG Castillo. One pitch later, right fielder Jake Guenther – claimed off waivers from the Goldeyes one week ago – hit a grand slam to right field to make the score 5-0.
