Canada finishes off round robin on a winning note
Team Canada won eight straight to finish off the round robin after an 8-5 win over the United States at the BKT World Men's Curling Championship at Temple Gardens Centre on Friday night.
Canada finished the round robin with a record of 11-1 and will receive the automatic bye into the semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

SHA reports sixth measles case in province's southwest
The Saskatchewan Health Authority says there are now six confirmed measles cases in the province.
Medical Health Officer Dr. David Torr says the most recent case was found in southwest Saskatchewan and involves an unvaccinated adult who travelled from Mexico and the United States.
He says the other cases have been reported in the province's southeast, southwest and northwest.
Torr says those without measles shots should get vaccinated, as it's the only way to prevent the highly contagious viral disease.
Portage hockey players advance to MMJHL Final
Another hockey league is preparing to wrap up its season, as the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League final nears.
The two squads facing off will be the St. Boniface Riels and the Transcona Railers Express. The Riels squad features two Portagers, Carson Dubois and Alex van Deynze.
Dubois says getting to this point in his third year is a pretty exciting feat.

Team Canada has locked up first place and will get a bye into the semifinals this weekend at the BKT World Men’s Curling Championship, taking place at Temple Gardens Centre.
Canada moves to 10-1 after defeating Austria 8-2 in seven ends.
Canada finishes off the round robin at 7 p.m. tonight against the United States and will play its semifinal on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Broncos face elimination in Medicine Hat tonight
The season is on the line tonight for the Swift Current Broncos.
Down 3-1 in their first round series to the Medicine Hat Tigers, the Broncos must win three in a row to advance to the second round.
"This series is far from over," said Broncos Assistant Coach Zach Franko. "It's first to four for a reason. We feel we've been right there every game. We're going to have to compete to play tomorrow."
The Broncos lost both their games in Medicine Hat this series, and they know it's an extra challenge winning on the road.
Peace Regional RCMP seek public assistance in identifying person in attempt to steal a truck
On April. 3, 2025, Peace Regional RCMP were made aware of an attempt to steal a truck at 8:47 A.M., in the area of 99 Street in Peace River where a truck pulls up near the driveway and a suspect comes from the passenger side, before coming to the truck in the driveway and making attempt to steal it.
Peace Regional RCMP are requesting assistance from community members, to identify the individuals involved, or, the location of the suspect truck.
Scotland clinches as final day of round robin begins
The final day of the round robin at the BKT World Men’s Curling Championship got underway this morning at Temple Gardens Centre with teams jockeying for playoff spots.
Scotland and Sweden were on the ice, sitting at three losses each. While China and Norway were sitting on the bubble, coming in with four losses.
Scotland guaranteed their spot in the playoffs. They opened with three with the hammer and stole one in the fourth as they defeated Germany 6-1.

Local hockey players will be back on the ice this weekend for Hockey Saskatchewan's Sask First Top 136 Tournament for female under-16.
