Swift Current's Carter Tuplin and Rowan Reimer have qualified for the 400-metre hurdles finals at the Canada Summer Games after impressive performances on Wednesday afternoon in St. John's, Newfoundland.
Tuplin easily won the second heat in the men's 400-metre hurdles with a time of 55.93 seconds. He finished with the sixth fastest time across 17 participants to book his ticket into Friday's final at 7:30 p.m. local time.
Weyburn Lacrosse well represented on the East Coast during Nationals
Busy might be the understatement of the century when it comes to the Weyburn Lacrosse Association lately. Lacrosse players from the Opportunity City have been all over the country testing their skills against the best in Canada’s national game. Warriors announce schedule for 2025 Training Camp
The Moose Jaw Warriors are excited to announce the schedule for the 2025 Training Camp presented by KCS Marketing.
Training Camp kicks off on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, with registration and fitness testing. On ice sessions begin on Thursday. The 2025 Training Camp will wrap up on Sunday, August 31, with the team’s annual Grey and Red Intrasquad game. Entry to the game will be by donation to CMHA Moose Jaw in memory of Warriors’ prospect Ethan Williams and Warriors’ alumni, Rob Trumbley.
Kyle coach leads Sask to first-ever beach volleyball medal
A local coach has guided Team Saskatchewan to its first-ever medal in beach volleyball at the Canada Games.
Kyle's Brittany Marshal coached Erika Markentin and Alexa Smith to a bronze medal on Sunday as they downed rival Alberta 2-1 to earn a spot on the podium.
Markentin, who plays NCAA Division 1 for California State University Bakersfield, was thrilled to earn some hardware.
"I can't believe we won a medal," she said. "I was dreaming about this last night, and I woke up and I was like that was a dream... We actually did it."
Broncos name Austin Mattes new voice of the team
Swift Current, Sask. – The Swift Current Broncos are proud to announce Austin Mattes as the organization’s new Community Relations Manager and Play-by-Play Voice for the upcoming season.
Mattes, a talented up-and-comer in the broadcasting industry, joins the Broncos after serving as the play-by-play announcer for the Battlefords North Stars of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) last season. Prior to his time in Battlefords, he spent time with the Flin Flon Bomber of the SJHL, gaining valuable experience in junior hockey.
Rosebud Jr Royals finish 5th at Canadian Championships
The Rosebud Jr Royals participated in the Canadian Fast Pitch Championships last week in Winkler and Morden, Manitoba and finished in 5th place.
In their first game, on Wednesday they were defeated by the Tavistock Athletics of Ontario 3-1.
The Royals bounced back in their second game with a 16-9 victory against Elma Avengers.
Thunder 2-0, Hilltops 1-1 as CJFL moves through early season action
The Canadian Junior Football League is off-and-running for the summer with multiple weeks now completed across the leagues Prairie, BC, and Ontario conferences.
Close to home in the PFC (Prairie Football Conference), the Regina Thunder are tied for first at 2-0 after back-to-back wins on the road started the season on the right note. Regina beat the Edmonton Huskies 31-16 in Week 1, before going to Calgary for a 46-21 final score on Sunday.

SE Connections build routines, friendships ahead of Saskatchewan Winter Games
An exciting opportunity lies ahead for several southeast artistic swimmers as they prepare for the upcoming Saskatchewan Winter Games.
The team representing the region will be the Southeast Connections, made up of seven athletes: Seirra Mantei, Rowyn Shier, Ava Donnison, Mahaley Fonstad, Isabelle Pyra, Kayden Pukas, and Brinley Groenveld. Pukas and Groenveld will compete as a duet, Donnison and Pyra form another duet, while Mantei and Shier will perform as soloists.
Portage Disc Golf Club celebrates 11th Open Tournament
The Portage Disc Golf Club hosted its 11th annual Portage Open at Island Park, welcoming 60 competitors to a course in top condition and under ideal weather. The event continues to be a highlight on the Manitoba Disc Golf Tour, drawing players from across the province.
“Yeah, we're really excited. We had 60 disc golfers sign up for our event, and the weather was perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better day,” said Portage Disc Golf Club Chairman Cody Buhler. “It wasn't too hot. It was nice and cool. Just a very slight breeze.”
