Okotoks Oilers release 2025–26 schedule, here's when they hit home ice

The Okotoks Oilers' 2025–26 season schedule is here.

They’ll open the season at home on Sept. 19, when they welcome the Sherwood Park Crusaders to the Viking Rentals Centre.

The following night, they head to Brooks to face the two-time reigning BCHL champions, the Bandits.

The Oilers’ first visit to B.C. this season is on Sept. 27, when they travel to Prince George for their only regular-season matchup against the Spruce Kings.

Mavericks roll over Miller Express 12-1

The Medicine Hat Mavericks rolled to a 12-1 win over the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Thursday night at Ross Wells Park.

Medicine Hat scored five runs in the fourth inning, five more in the fifth, and single runs in the sixth and seventh to grab a 12-0 lead.

Moose Jaw’s lone run came in the bottom of the ninth, when Tanner DeGrazia hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Austin Gurney.

The Miller Express will look to get revenge tonight when they head to Medicine Hat for the rubber match of the three-game series.

Full slate of rugby matches for Bow Valley sides

It’s a full weekend of rugby action for Bow Valley teams, with two matches on their Mitford home field.

The Div. 2 Grizzlies host the Foothills Lions on Saturday at 1 p.m., looking to bounce back after a 40–31 loss to the second-place Calgary Hornets. It was only their second loss of the season.

Despite the setback, the Grizz still lead the league.

Elsewhere, the Div. 3 Ba Bas face the Canucks tonight at the Calgary Rugby Union, and the women’s team travels to Okotoks on Saturday to take on the Lions.

Beavers put up big numbers in dominant win over Swift Current

The Weyburn Beavers kept the chances of a playoff berth alive with a 9-2 win over the Swift Current 57s on Thursday night at Tom Laing Park. The victory came about thanks in part to a strong outing from starting pitcher Ethan Webster and a two-homer performance by outfielder Noah Brooks. 

After the game, Beavers head coach Cam Williams said the team is turning a corner heading into the final stretch. 

Beavers slow 57's bats again

Starter Ethan Webster held the Swift Current 57's to 1 hit through a scoreless 7 innings on the way to a 9-2 Weyburn win in the WCBL last night.

The 57's scored twice late but have struggled offensively against the Beavers with only 5 runs in their last 3 games.

Shunta Furuya took the loss for the 57's allowing 5 runs over 7 innings.

All-Star catcher Luis Ayala went 1 for 2 with a walk and a run scored for the 57's in a losing cause.

Swift Current returns to Mitchell Field tonight for their first home game since July 4th.

Strong pitching for 18U AAA 57's in doubleheader win

A bounce-back for the Swift Current Kal Tire 18U AAA 57's.

They snapped a four-game losing streak by sweeping a doubleheader with the Z7 Sun Devils yesterday.

Jase Johnson allowed only 1 run on 2 hits and 14 strike outs in a complete game 7 innings to take the first game 4-1 over the Sun Devils.

Wesley Olson was 1 for 2 with a run scored and 2 RBIs.

Hudson Unger then wen 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI in a 5-3 win to complete the sweep.

Southwest golfers win Saskatchewan amateur golf tournaments

Chloe Wills is the 2025 Saskatchewan Women's Amateur golf champion.

The Kyle, SK product beat Ella Kozak of Yorkton by one shot to claim the championship at the Humboldt Golf Club.

Wills led after all three rounds.

She adds this championship to wins at Under 17 and Under 15 tournaments through her career.

Swift Current's Corey Bailey won the 2025 Saskatchewan Men's Mid-Amateur tournament.

He finished with a 2-over part 74 yesterday to beat Humboldt's Paul Raycroft by two shots.

Sports Round-Up: Friday, July 18

It was payback time for the Medicine Hat Mavericks last night. Just 24 hours after taking an 11-2 beating in Moose Jaw, the Mavs bounced back with a 12-1 win over the Miller Express last night. Jeremy Freeman Junior went 3 for 5 with a home run and 6 RBI. The same two teams will battle again tonight in Medicine Hat.

In other Western Canadian Baseball League action last night, Weyburn beat Swift Current 9-2, Saskatoon Berries topped Lethbridge 13-2 and the Regina Red Sox lost 9-3 to Okotoks.
