Coming up this Friday and Saturday (February 14th and 15th), The Red Deer Downtown Business Association (DBA) is presenting Polar Glow.
Polar Glow is a two-day winter installation event featuring glowing art pieces, live ice sculpting, and family-friendly activities for all ages.
Warming up your vehicle? Red Deer RCMP provide tips to avoid theft
With the bitter cold temperatures returning this week, many drivers are looking to warm up their vehicles before hopping in.
Red Deer RCMP are reminding residents to never leave their keys in their vehicle, unattended.
During Operation Cold Start, which took place Jan. 20 to 24, officers found 12 unlocked vehicles left idling with keys in the ignition. Police also discovered 61 locked vehicles left idling with keys in the ignition.
During the week-long campaign, officers engaged with residents to educate them on best practices to prevent vehicle theft in winter.
Trump’s invasion threats violate international law: Canadian ambassador
The Canadian ambassador to France says threats by United States President Donald Trump to invade another country violate international law.

Classes and buses cancelled Monday due to cold weather
Chinook's Edge School Division - Buses are not running Monday in the communities of Penhold, Delburne and Elnora but schools are open and classes are being held.
Due to severe weather conditions, all school bus routes within Clearview Public Schools will be cancelled, Monday, February 10, 2025.
Schools will be open and regular classes will proceed.

Water service repairs to cause traffic interruption in Olds
A traffic note for drivers in Olds that there will be water service repairs causing delays in traffic starting today.
This work will be done at the intersection of 51 Street and 61 Avenue (Hwy 27 South Service Road)
Traffic will be restricted to one lane on the service road. Expect interruptions to traffic flow and speed reductions.
This work will begin at 8:00 am today, Monday, February 10, and is expected to last for two days.
Red Deer City Council to consider adding Lived Experience member to Homelessness Integration Committee
At the Monday, February 10, 2025, Regular City Council Meeting, City Council will discuss and provide direction to administration regarding The City’s Housing Accelerator Fund 2 application.
Council will also consider three readings of an updated Committees Bylaw.
The proposed changes will add two citizen representatives to the Audit Committee and one Lived Experience member to the Housing and Homelessness Integration Committee.
These changes are intended to strengthen public participation and improve operational efficiency for the respective committees.
Farm groups call for reversal of Capital Gains Inclusion Rate
The over 130,000 Canadian farmers and ranchers represented by the Canadian Canola Growers Association, Canadian Cattle Association and Grain Growers of Canada are calling on the Government of Canada to reverse its decision to administer the proposed capital gains inclusion rate legislation.

The Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre (CAPCC) has updated its logo and brand colours.
"Colours are powerful communication tools and can be more effective than words. They influence our thinking, inspire decision-making, and promote emotional resonance," said Lisa Smith, Executive Director. "We have carefully chosen colours that reflect our values as an organization,"
The new colours are orange, cherry red, and yellow.
