CRSB updates the Certified Sustainable Beef Framework

The Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef has released a comprehensive update to its Certified Sustainable Beef Framework.

A committee representing the whole beef supply chain reviewed all aspects of the Framework with input from stakeholders, subject matter experts, and public consultation.

The Assurance Protocols that guide how certification is carried out have been updated, as have the Chain of Custody Requirements, on how cattle and beef are tracked through the supply chain.

RCMP vehicles rammed as suspect tries to escape

 On Jan. 2, 2024, at 3:00 a.m.,  RCMP were notified of a suspicious vehicle operating in the industrial park on Imperial way in Olds. Upon officers approaching the vehicle, it rammed two police vehicles as it attempted to leave the area, rendering both inoperable.  The vehicle came to a stop and both occupants were arrested. Checks on the vehicle revealed that it was stolen.

Holiday generosity fills the shelves at the Lacombe Food Bank

The Lacombe Food Bank has been fully re-stocked following the holidays. General Manager at the Lacombe Community Food Bank, Millie Snow says the shelves are looking great.  

“We got a lot of donations from schools, churches, and private people and it was just wonderful,” said Snow.  

“On a whole, our shelves, our food everything looks good,” she added.  

Federal Agriculture Minister is optimistic about the ag sector heading into 2024

It's time to register your pet in Blackfalds

It’s time to get your animal licenses in the Town of Blackfalds. Any residents who own a cat or dog that are three months of age or older are required to register their pet annually.  

Right now, residents can receive an early bird rate from January 1-31st. With the early bird rate, unaltered male or female pets cost $30 to register and spayed or neutered animals cost $15.  

UPDATE: Red Deer resident deceased (RCMP confirm one death in Tuesday night crash on QE II )

UPDATE: January 3rd, 4:50 pm

On Jan. 2, 2023, at 10:38 p.m. Airdrie RCMP received a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 9 East of Range Road 252. Upon arrival, officers observed that a passenger car had a head on collision with a semi tractor trailer. The driver of the car, a 39-year-old male resident of Red Deer, was taken to hospital by EMS with serious life threatening injuries. The passenger in the car ,a 51-year-old female resident of Red Deer, was deceased.

RCMP remained on scene for several hours investigating the collision.
