Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School’s Improv Teams have earned top honours at recent competitions.

The Nosebowl Team secured a silver medal at the Wildfire Festival, while the Canadian Improv Games Team earned a bronze medal, highlighting the dedication and creativity of these young performers.

A Sundre man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 1976 killing of a teenage mother in Calgary, following a renewed investigation that used advanced DNA technology.

Ronald James Edwards entered the plea in court Monday in connection with the death of 16-year-old Pauline Brazeau. Originally from Saskatchewan, Brazeau had moved to Calgary with her infant daughter in 1975.

The Red Deer Regional Health Foundation in partnership with the provincial government is expediting the delivery of cardiac services in the Central Alberta region.   

The $1.8-billion Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre redevelopment project is expected to be completed by 2031 and includes two state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs.  

Former prime minister Stephen Harper is taking shots at Liberal leadership front-runner Mark Carney's economic record days before the party gathers to choose its next leader.

In his bid to win the Liberal leadership, Carney has campaigned on his economic record as governor of both the Bank of Canada and later the Bank of England.

His campaign website says Carney "guided Canada through one of the most turbulent economic periods in modern history, protecting jobs and helping ensure that Canada came out stronger."

U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that 25 per cent across-the-board tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, with a lower 10 per cent levy on Canadian energy, will start Tuesday, tipping the continent into a trade war.

"No room left for Mexico or for Canada (to make a deal)," Trump said at the White House.

Trump's executive order to implement economywide tariffs was delayed until Tuesday after Canada and Mexico agreed to introduce new security measures at the border.

The Lacombe Kinsmen are kicking off the end of the Winter season with a Spring Fling fundraising event.

Spring Fling is happening on Friday, April 4th at the Lacombe Memorial Centre (LMC). Derek Flinn, the Chairperson for the event, says its going to be a lot of fun.

On March 1, the Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of an unknown male who had entered the backyard of a residence and stole a parked vehicle.   

Officers were able to identify the suspect and a search was launched.  

The following morning, police received a report of a break and enter to a residence, where a vehicle was also stolen.   

Areas of Central Alberta saw some significant snowfall over the early part of the day on Monday.

Justin Shelley is a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

"We did see some decent accumulations occur. It looks like Rocky Mountain House towards Sundre, about 5 cm had fallen this morning, maybe a bit more," he said. "One of the stations further west towards Nordegg, it looks like they had upwards of 15 cm of snow."

Conditions are expected to improve throughout the day.
