Incumbent Blake Richards highlights priorities for re-election

Incumbent Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) Blake Richards is running for re-election in the Airdrie-Cochrane riding.

He is hopeful to represent the people of Airdrie and Cochrane once again.

"It's always humbling to put your name on the ballot," Richards said. "I've worked hard for the people of our area, and it's always been an honour to represent our communities and our people within them."

Richards, who has lived in Airdrie for 25 years, said his motivation is giving back.

Update: Police search for man, 25, last seen in Calgary

Calgary police say a 25-year-old man reported missing in the city’s southwest has been located. No further information was provided.

In a brief statement posted Monday, police said the individual had been reported missing from the 200 block of 10th Avenue S.W.

"We thank the media and the public for their assistance," police said in the post.

French Immersion Forum connects 330 students

Around 70 Chinook’s Edge students in Grades 8 to 12 recently took part in a French Immersion event.

According to Chinook's Edge, on March 27, they joined students from three other school divisions to learn more about French language and culture.

“The purpose of the event is to give French students the chance to engage in French language speaking, to learn more about French culture and language, and to get to know other French Speakers,” says Marie-Astrid Detharet, French Immersion Coordinator, Chinook’s Edge School Division.

Ottawa man, 31, charged after Parliament Hill lockdown

Police say they've charged a 31-year-old Ottawa man with several offences following an incident that placed an area of Parliament Hill under lockdown on Saturday.

Ottawa police said in a media statement Sunday that a man entered East Block in downtown Ottawa at 2:40 p.m. Saturday and started issuing threats to those inside.

Security officials isolated the man in a security screening area while police evacuated the building, which mostly houses offices for senators and their staff.

Police said the man surrendered peacefully after hours of negotiations.

Crossfield’s Hockeyville run ends: ‘Our community is stronger today’

Crossfield may not have taken home the title, but its run for Kraft Hockeyville 2025 ended with national attention, a surge of community spirit — and $25,000 for arena upgrades.

On Saturday, organizers announced Saint-Boniface, Que., as the national winner. The community will receive $250,000 for upgrades to Aréna Saint-Boniface and the opportunity to host an NHL® pre-season game.

Crossfield was one of three runners-up — alongside Lower Sackville, N.S., and Honeywood, Ont. — and will receive $25,000 in arena funding.
