New Calgary arena reaches key construction milestone
Last week, Scotia Place released another construction update video, announcing that the project has achieved a major milestone.
According to the update, the final construction pile is now in place. There are around 1100 piles for the project, with the first one installed on September 6.
The update shared that 150 of the piles are foundation piles, while the rest support shoring walls during excavation and construction.
Airdrie Irish ready for exciting new season
The Airdrie Irish Football Club are gearing up for another busy season with high hopes.
Anton Bellot, the Airdrie Irish co-head coach, talked about how excited the team is for the season to begin shortly.
"Last season, we couldn't play at Genesis with the field upgrades that were taking place. I know the guys are excited to be back at Genesis Place and to play a couple of games at a later time under the lights. So we're super ecstatic for this upcoming season."
He went on to talk about what the team is looking like right now.

Update: Snowfall warning continues as Airdrie roads may worsen
A snowfall warning issued earlier Tuesday by Environment Canada has since been lifted.
The warning, was in effect for Rocky View County near Airdrie and Crossfield, called for 5 to 10 centimetres of snow overnight, with some areas possibly seeing up to 15 centimetres. Snow is expected to end by Wednesday morning.
"Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations," the agency said. "Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow."

Crossfield truck among $90K in stolen property recovered by RCMP
A truck reported stolen from a Crossfield business was among more than $90,000 in stolen property recovered by RCMP last month.
RCMP say the Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit began investigating on March 21 after a $32,000 utility trailer was reported stolen from a business in High River.
It’s April 1, but Airdrie gas prices are not fooling around
Gas prices in Airdrie are lower today, as the federal government has set the fuel charge on gasoline and other fuels to zero.
The change occurred today, following a March 15 Order-in-Council amending the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act to set fuel charge rates for all fuels and combustible waste to zero. While this adjustment temporarily halts the consumer fuel charge, the Act itself remains in force, allowing the federal government to adjust rates in the future without needing new legislation.
Airdrie wants your opinion: 2025 Resident Satisfaction Survey launched
Airdrie residents will be able to provide feedback on municipal services through the 2025 Resident Satisfaction Survey, launched today and running until April 18.
Formerly known as the Citizen Satisfaction Survey, the annual survey is administered by Y Station, which will contact 400 randomly selected residents by phone to gather responses. Residents can also complete the survey online.
