Big Spike volleyball Tournament to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Plains is hosting a Big Spike Volleyball Tournament on May 3 at Southport Rec Plex, and it’s shaping up to be a fun-filled day for all participants. This is the first time Big Brothers Big Sisters has hosted a mixed volleyball tournament. Each team is required to have at least three women on the court and promises to provide at least three games for every team involved.

Laura Spelliscy, Mentoring Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters, shared that the tournament is not only about friendly competition but also about supporting a great cause.

A new Leger poll conducted for the Canadian Press, found 61% of respondents have made their final decision, with another 37% saying they "could change their mind".

The poll also found 68% of Conservative voters and 61% of Liberal supporters said their decision was final while 45% of NDP voters said the same.

From struggle to strength: How YFC Winnipeg is helping teens find faith and community

Youth for Christ Winnipeg offers many programs, including their drop-in centre as a way of connecting with teenagers in the community. 

"I attend the drop-in program at YFC," says Avril. "I've been coming here since 2022, so about three years now. I got connected through one of my good friends. I'd say one of the biggest things I've gained would be my first encounter with Christ."

Being a part of the drop-in at YFC Winnipeg, located at 333 King St., has allowed her to connect and be mentored by staff member Tiara.
