The two communities are among eight partnerships across Canada selected to participate in the three-year national program from 2024 to 2027.

Discover Humboldt continues its conversation with Aspen Beveridge, the all-around head of Skull Creek Studios in Watrous. In its three years in Watrous, the studio has developed a reputation for producing rich and polished tracks that focus on the artists’ sonic vision and enthrall listeners. Nominated in songwriting and producing categories by the Saskatchewan Country Music Association in 2022 and 2023, Beveridge struck the right notes in 2024 as Skull Creek was named studio of the year.
Hammerheads swim team shows winning performances at Provincials
The Humboldt Hammerheads wrapped up their summer swim season with a standout performance at Provincials last weekend in Watrous.
A total of 44 swimmers represented the team at the two-day competition, delivering incredible results across the board. The team brought home an impressive 20 individual gold medals, 10 silver, and 14 bronze. In the relay events, the Hammerheads continued to shine, collecting 16 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze medals.
UPDATE: Missing 9 year old boy from Cote First Nation located
RCMP have issued an update that the boy has been located safe.
On July 30, 2025, Kamsack RCMP received a report of a missing 9-year-old boy.
Damaris, who also goes by the nickname ‘Maris’, was last seen on July 30 at approximately 12:10 a.m. on the Cote First Nation.
Since he was reported missing, Kamsack RCMP have been checking places Damaris is known to visit and following up on information received. They are now asking members of the public to report information on Damaris’s whereabouts.

Bylaw to adopt South Area Structure Plan passes at City Council
At the regular meeting of Humboldt City Council on Monday, July 29, the Council voted on the adoption of a bylaw to support its South Area Structure Plan.
As reported at its July Executive Meeting, the Housing Accelerator Fund through the CMHC was prepared to entertain an additional funding submission from the City based on its exceeding targeted goals for its previous HAF initiatives.
NDP kick off healthcare tour of webcam-filled emergency rooms
The Saskatchewan NDP is crisscrossing the province as part of a recent initiative called the Critical Condition Tour.
The opposition launched the tour amid increased reports of emergency room closures, overcrowding, and understaffing in rural and remote hospitals across Saskatchewan. For the rest of the summer, NDP Health Critic Keith Jorgenson will be traveling to 28 communities where the provincial government has vowed to implement virtual doctors in emergency rooms via webcams.
RCMP foil a pair of drone drug deliveries to Sask Penitentiary
A pair of high-tech drug drops at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary was foiled by Saskatchewan RCMP. The seizure of drugs and the delivery drone has also resulted in the arrests of three individuals following separate investigations in Prince Albert.
In early July, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team (CRT) received a report of a potential delivery of drugs to the Saskatchewan Penitentiary by drone.
