Canadian delegation among thousands of mourners attending Pope Francis's funeral
Canadians scattered among the tens of thousands in and around St. Peter's Square for the funeral of Pope Francis described the ceremony as profoundly beautiful.
While dignitaries such as Gov.-Gen. Mary Simon were seated near the front of the square, members of the general public were positioned farther back or gathered in the streets of Rome to watch on large screens.
Falguni Debnath says being at the back of the square didn't dampen the effect of the familiar ritual.
Traffic stop in Wynyard results in multiple drug and weapon charges for local 51-year-old man
A 51-year-old man from Wynyard is facing multiple drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop in the community.
On March 12 at approximately 2:00 am, Jason Wingert was arrested by Wynyard RCMP in relation to an ongoing investigation.
Practice range opened at Humboldt Golf Course
You can get the clubs out of storage as the practice range is now open at the Humboldt Golf Course.
Range balls are available in the upstairs lounge.
The pro shop will open on Monday at 9 am.
No official date has been set for the opening of the course for the season, but maintenance crews are currently working on the course to get it ready as soon as possible.

Parks ready to bloom in Humboldt
With the snow melted and the heat from the sunshine now here, the parks in Humboldt will soon be busy with activity.
In the southeast corner of the city, work is almost complete to the upgrades at Bill Brecht Park.
Leisure Services Director Mike Ulriksen says one additional component will soon be installed.
He adds that some fencing work also needs to be done at the park.
Government amends trespass regulations; opposition says action misses the point
Increasing instances of fentanyl use and an alarming rash of overdose calls have sparked the provincial government to pass new regulations empowering police to enforce trespass laws in businesses and public spaces. Those include libraries and public parks.
A government release states the activities such as public intoxication and drug use will now be automatically considered trespassing in public spaces or businesses under the Trespass to Property Amendment Regulations.

SHA cautions about Hantavirus
With many residents set to begin spring cleanup, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is reminding everyone to use precaution against Hantavirus.
A Hantavirus infection is caused by breathing in contaminated airborne particles from droppings, urine or saliva of infected deer mice.
It could cause a potentially fatal lung disease known as pulmonary syndrome.
When cleaning rodent-infested areas, the SHA recommends avoiding activities that raise dust and prevent direct contact and breathing in air particles that may be contaminated.
Construction work set to resume on Highway 5 west of Humboldt
Depending on the weather, the month of May will see the resumption of construction on Highway between the junction of Highway 2 and Saskatoon. The multi-year project has seen considerable progress. Now the Ministry of Highways states that work this year will continue to tackle the 15 kilometre segment of highway from the St. Denis access to Blucher Road. Construction on this zone began in June 2023.
