Candy, colours, kids, and cool cars ignite Energy City Ex parade
A vibrant parade provided a jolt in Estevan Thursday afternoon as the revamped Energy City Ex kicked off.
The four-day event includes the KCRA rodeo for the first time in over 20 years.
There are two days of rodeo - with action happening Saturday evening at the Exhibition Grounds, and Sunday afternoon.
There's a kids' rodeo Friday night.
Good news continues with COVID-19 trends for Saskatchewan
The trend of decreasing lab test-positivity rates for COVID-19 in Saskatchewan continued in Thursday's update from the province. And the number of people in hospital with the disease dropped.
The update stated that the test-positivity rate fell from 5.3 per cent last week to 4.6 per cent. Three months ago it was above 13 per cent.
Woman charged in homicide of infant
Police are releasing details following the homicide of a newborn infant in May.
The Winnipeg Police Service says they were alerted on May 3, 2022, to the report of a newborn infant placed in a garbage bin in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue.
New construction begins on South Perimeter
A new construction zone is popping up on the South Perimeter Highway on Wednesday and will cause delays until mid-July.
Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure reports construction activities begin today on Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 100 at Provincial Road (PR) 330.
Work on PTH 100 will require lane closures in both the eastbound and westbound directions. Lane width will be limited to 3.7 metres today and tomorrow. Speeds will be reduced to 60 kilometres an hour in the work zone.

1 killed in 2-vehicle collision in Westman
One person is dead and another was taken to hospital following a collision Tuesday in western Manitoba.
The Manitoba RCMP says that officers from the Yellowhead detachment responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 10, approximately 6 km south of Erickson, around 7 a.m..
Police say that a southbound vehicle collided with a northbound vehicle on the highway.
The driver and sole occupant of the northbound vehicle, a 53-year-old male from Onanole, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
1 dead following shooting on Waywayseecappo First Nation
One man is dead and another is recovering from gunshot wound following an incident on Waywayseecappo First Nation last week, police say.
The Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) says in a release that officers were called in the early morning hours of June 1, 2022, to a report of shots fired at a residence in the community. MFNPS Officers attended the area of the residence, where a single gunshot was heard in the immediate area.
Estevan RCMP involved in bust yielding 70 criminal charges after kilograms of drugs seized
The Saskatchewan RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit (FSOC) based in Regina, began an investigation in October 2020, into a crime group that was distributing large quantities of drugs to several communities across Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Moose Jaw, Regina, Saskatoon, and numerous rural communities like Assiniboia, Marquis, Mossbank, Caronport, and Craven were affected.
Over 7,000 hours of surveillance were conducted in Alberta, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, as well as over 60 judicial authorizations, were executed.
Winnipeg woman killed in skydiving accident
A Winnipeg woman is dead following a skydiving accident over the weekend in Gimli, Man.
The Manitoba RCMP says in a release that officers from the Gimli detachment were called just before 7:30 on Saturday evening.
Officers received a report that there had been a parachuting incident at the Gimli Industrial Park.
