Fighter jets scrambled after civilian aircraft violates G7 airspace
A private civilian aircraft was intercepted by fighter jets Sunday morning after violating restricted airspace above Kananaskis during the G7 Summit.
North American Aerospace Defense Command [NORAD], supporting the RCMP-led Integrated Safety and Security Group, deployed CF-18 Hornet jets from the Canadian region after the fixed-wing plane entered CYR 292 at about 11:05 a.m.
The restricted zone, centred over Kananaskis Village, was established as part of security protocols for the G7.
